How we grade them
| 3.6GPAMeta MuseExcellent | 3.4GPAPallyVery good | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BPower is $20 a month for 500M Muse tokens a week, which is about where agents in this category start. Max jumps to $100 a month for 3B tokens a week. Both renew every month until you cancel. | AFree for everyone, with every feature included, so there's no price to weigh. The one paid plan, Pally VIP, is $1,000 a month and by invitation only. A Cloud Mac add-on is paid too, but its price isn't published. |
| Free plan and trial | BFree up to a usage limit, then you wait for it to refresh or pay. Meta's help article doesn't say how big the free allowance is, so nobody can tell you how far it goes before you start. | BEvery connection, unlimited automations, calls and web research are free. But there's one usage limit that refills through the week, and the listing can't say how big it is. Raising it means Pally VIP, which is invitation-only. Chat keeps working if you hit it. |
| Features | AIt works on its own cloud computer with a full browser, keeps going after you close the app, and tracks goals over time. It asks before sending an email or buying something, and pays through Link with a one-time card number. | AIt reads across Gmail, Outlook, calendars, WhatsApp and Slack to flag what needs a reply and send a morning brief. It runs automations the moment something happens, makes bookings and purchases through a wallet you connect, and phones businesses. It checks first on anything you haven't approved. |
| Ease of use | A4.9 from about 155,000 App Store ratings. You message it the way you'd message a person, in the app or in WhatsApp. You do need a Meta account to get in. | BThere's no app to install and no sign-up form: you text it like a person. To be useful it needs your email, calendar and chat accounts connected. There's no rating on record to go by, so a B. |
| Platforms and integrations | AiPhone, Android, Mac, the web and WhatsApp, with connectors for email, calendar and Instagram. Two gaps: the only desktop download is for Mac, and Meta says it isn't available in all locations yet. | BYou text it from an iPhone, an Android phone, an iPad or a Mac, or message it on Telegram. There's a web dashboard and a Mac app, but no phone app. It connects to Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp, Slack, Notion and Linear. Reading iMessage history needs the Mac app, with the Mac awake. |

Worth knowing
Meta Muse
- Meta says Muse is rolling out in the US, and that Muse and its subscriptions are in limited testing and not available in all locations.
- The size of the free allowance is not published in the help article; Power and Max are capped at 500M and 3B Muse tokens a week.
- A Meta account is required, and subscribers must be 18 or the age of majority in their country.
- The App Store lists the iOS app as iPhone only, requiring iOS 18 or later; the only desktop download offered is for macOS.
Pally
- Pally has no mobile app: it works over text messages and Telegram, with a web dashboard at my.pally.com and a Mac app for iMessage and Mac access.
- The Cloud Mac add-on is paid, but its price is not published; the terms say fees are shown before you are charged.
- The free plan's usage limit can be raised only with Pally VIP, which is invitation-only at $1,000 a month or $10,000 a year.
- Reading iMessage history needs the Pally Mac app on macOS 13 or later and works only while that Mac is awake.
Key features
Meta Muse
- Muse Secure VM
- Each user gets a persistent, isolated Linux computer in the cloud with a full browser, shared with the agent, and can step in at any point while a task runs.
- Goals and background work
- Given a goal, Muse builds an action plan, tracks progress and takes on tasks along the way. It keeps working after the app is closed and returns when it needs approval.
- Connectors and self-built tools
- Connects to email, calendar, Instagram and other apps, with the level of access set by the user. If a task needs a tool that does not exist, Muse builds one.
- Approvals and audit trail
- Asks before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, with options to allow once, always allow or deny, and keeps a record of what it has done and plans to do.
- Purchases through Link
- Checks out with Link, built by Stripe, using a one-time card number so the merchant and the agent never see the real card. Eligible purchases carry Link's purchase protections.
- Mobile, Mac, web and WhatsApp
- Conversations work like messaging a person, in the mobile app, on muse.ai or directly in WhatsApp. The Mac app also works with local files, apps and browser tabs.
Pally
- An assistant in your texts
- You text Pally from an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android phone, or message its Telegram bot. It keeps a memory of the people, plans and details you mention and tidies it nightly.
- Connected accounts
- Links to Gmail, Outlook and iCloud mail, calendars, WhatsApp, Slack, Google Drive, Notion, Linear, GitHub, Jira, Todoist, Granola and X, plus a read-only bank connection.
- Briefs, alerts and automations
- Sends a morning brief and alerts for important messages across what you connect, and runs unlimited custom automations, including ones triggered the moment something happens.
- Bookings, purchases and calls
- Completes bookings and orders on the web, paying through a payment wallet you connect, and phones businesses for you. It checks first on anything you have not asked for or approved.
- Teams and group chats
- A team links members' assistants so they coordinate with each other, with each person choosing what to share. Pally can also be added to an iMessage or Telegram group chat.
- Pally Mac app
- On macOS 13 or later, the Mac app connects your iMessage history and lets Pally see the screen, reach folders you grant and run steps you ask for while the Mac is on.
