Value for money
BNo prices are published, so there's nothing to weigh. The terms say fees may be charged for certain features, payable in US dollars, and that's all anyone outside can see. A B is where we put a tool whose paid side the listing can't describe.
AFree for everyone, with every feature included, so there's no price to weigh. The one paid plan, Pally VIP, is $1,000 a month and by invitation only. A Cloud Mac add-on is paid too, but its price isn't published.
Free plan and trial
BThe listing can't say what's free. No prices are published, and the terms only say that certain features may carry fees. So there may well be a free side to it, but nobody can tell you where it stops.
BEvery connection, unlimited automations, calls and web research are free. But there's one usage limit that refills through the week, and the listing can't say how big it is. Raising it means Pally VIP, which is invitation-only. Chat keeps working if you hit it.
Features
BYou text or call it, and the site says it works a phone and a computer the way a person does: disputing bills, sending gifts, ordering groceries. It can buy things with a payment method you provide. But that's a short description, not documentation, and Google Workspace is the only connection it names.
AIt reads across Gmail, Outlook, calendars, WhatsApp and Slack to flag what needs a reply and send a morning brief. It runs automations the moment something happens, makes bookings and purchases through a wallet you connect, and phones businesses. It checks first on anything you haven't approved.
Ease of use
BNothing to learn: you text it or ring it, and web sign-in is a one-time code sent to your phone. Getting access is the hard part, since you need an invite link or a place on the waitlist. No rating is on record, so a B.
BThere's no app to install and no sign-up form: you text it like a person. To be useful it needs your email, calendar and chat accounts connected. There's no rating on record to go by, so a B.
Platforms and integrations
BYou reach it by text or phone call and sign in on the web. Linking Google Workspace gives it Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Tasks. The terms name a Mac app and mobile apps, but the public site links only to web sign-in.
BYou text it from an iPhone, an Android phone, an iPad or a Mac, or message it on Telegram. There's a web dashboard and a Mac app, but no phone app. It connects to Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp, Slack, Notion and Linear. Reading iMessage history needs the Mac app, with the Mac awake.

Who each one suits

Instinct

  • People who would rather text or phone an assistant than learn a new app
  • Personal errands that involve phone calls, bookings and online orders
  • Google Workspace users who want one assistant across mail, calendar and files

Pally

  • People who want an assistant in their text thread instead of another app
  • Catching up on WhatsApp, iMessage and email and chasing replies
  • Personal errands such as bookings, purchases and calls to businesses

Worth knowing

Instinct

  • Access is restricted: the invite page works only from a link sent by an existing member, and the terms refer to a waitlist.
  • No prices are published. The terms say fees may be charged for certain features, payable in US dollars.
  • By default the terms allow your materials to be used to train AI models; you can opt out in settings. Vault and Google Workspace data are excluded.
  • The terms and privacy policy name a Mac app and mobile apps, but the public site links only to web sign-in.

Pally

  • Pally has no mobile app: it works over text messages and Telegram, with a web dashboard at my.pally.com and a Mac app for iMessage and Mac access.
  • The Cloud Mac add-on is paid, but its price is not published; the terms say fees are shown before you are charged.
  • The free plan's usage limit can be raised only with Pally VIP, which is invitation-only at $1,000 a month or $10,000 a year.
  • Reading iMessage history needs the Pally Mac app on macOS 13 or later and works only while that Mac is awake.

Key features

Instinct

Reached by text or phone call
There is no separate chat app to learn: you text the assistant or call it. Sign-in on the web is by a one-time code sent to your phone number.
Acts on a phone and a computer
The site says Instinct can use a phone and a computer as a person would. Its examples include disputing a bill, sending gifts, ordering groceries and booking appointments.
Connected services
You authorize it to work in third-party sites and apps for you. Linking Google Workspace gives it Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Tasks.
Purchases on your behalf
It can buy things on connected services with a payment method you provide, such as booking a ride. The terms treat you, not Instinct, as the buyer in each transaction.
Vault
A separate store for sensitive material. The terms say items added to the Vault are used only to provide the service to you and are not used to train AI models.

Pally

An assistant in your texts
You text Pally from an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android phone, or message its Telegram bot. It keeps a memory of the people, plans and details you mention and tidies it nightly.
Connected accounts
Links to Gmail, Outlook and iCloud mail, calendars, WhatsApp, Slack, Google Drive, Notion, Linear, GitHub, Jira, Todoist, Granola and X, plus a read-only bank connection.
Briefs, alerts and automations
Sends a morning brief and alerts for important messages across what you connect, and runs unlimited custom automations, including ones triggered the moment something happens.
Bookings, purchases and calls
Completes bookings and orders on the web, paying through a payment wallet you connect, and phones businesses for you. It checks first on anything you have not asked for or approved.
Teams and group chats
A team links members' assistants so they coordinate with each other, with each person choosing what to share. Pally can also be added to an iMessage or Telegram group chat.
Pally Mac app
On macOS 13 or later, the Mac app connects your iMessage history and lets Pally see the screen, reach folders you grant and run steps you ask for while the Mac is on.
