How we grade them

3.0GPAInstinctVery good3.6GPAMeta MuseExcellent
Value for money
BNo prices are published, so there's nothing to weigh. The terms say fees may be charged for certain features, payable in US dollars, and that's all anyone outside can see. A B is where we put a tool whose paid side the listing can't describe.
BPower is $20 a month for 500M Muse tokens a week, which is about where agents in this category start. Max jumps to $100 a month for 3B tokens a week. Both renew every month until you cancel.
Free plan and trial
BThe listing can't say what's free. No prices are published, and the terms only say that certain features may carry fees. So there may well be a free side to it, but nobody can tell you where it stops.
BFree up to a usage limit, then you wait for it to refresh or pay. Meta's help article doesn't say how big the free allowance is, so nobody can tell you how far it goes before you start.
Features
BYou text or call it, and the site says it works a phone and a computer the way a person does: disputing bills, sending gifts, ordering groceries. It can buy things with a payment method you provide. But that's a short description, not documentation, and Google Workspace is the only connection it names.
AIt works on its own cloud computer with a full browser, keeps going after you close the app, and tracks goals over time. It asks before sending an email or buying something, and pays through Link with a one-time card number.
Ease of use
BNothing to learn: you text it or ring it, and web sign-in is a one-time code sent to your phone. Getting access is the hard part, since you need an invite link or a place on the waitlist. No rating is on record, so a B.
A4.9 from about 155,000 App Store ratings. You message it the way you'd message a person, in the app or in WhatsApp. You do need a Meta account to get in.
Platforms and integrations
BYou reach it by text or phone call and sign in on the web. Linking Google Workspace gives it Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Tasks. The terms name a Mac app and mobile apps, but the public site links only to web sign-in.
AiPhone, Android, Mac, the web and WhatsApp, with connectors for email, calendar and Instagram. Two gaps: the only desktop download is for Mac, and Meta says it isn't available in all locations yet.

Who each one suits

Instinct

  • People who would rather text or phone an assistant than learn a new app
  • Personal errands that involve phone calls, bookings and online orders
  • Google Workspace users who want one assistant across mail, calendar and files

Meta Muse

  • Personal errands such as bookings, shopping and price tracking
  • People who want to message an agent from WhatsApp
  • Long-running goals that need follow-up without checking in

Worth knowing

Instinct

  • Access is restricted: the invite page works only from a link sent by an existing member, and the terms refer to a waitlist.
  • No prices are published. The terms say fees may be charged for certain features, payable in US dollars.
  • By default the terms allow your materials to be used to train AI models; you can opt out in settings. Vault and Google Workspace data are excluded.
  • The terms and privacy policy name a Mac app and mobile apps, but the public site links only to web sign-in.

Meta Muse

  • Meta says Muse is rolling out in the US, and that Muse and its subscriptions are in limited testing and not available in all locations.
  • The size of the free allowance is not published in the help article; Power and Max are capped at 500M and 3B Muse tokens a week.
  • A Meta account is required, and subscribers must be 18 or the age of majority in their country.
  • The App Store lists the iOS app as iPhone only, requiring iOS 18 or later; the only desktop download offered is for macOS.

Key features

Instinct

Reached by text or phone call
There is no separate chat app to learn: you text the assistant or call it. Sign-in on the web is by a one-time code sent to your phone number.
Acts on a phone and a computer
The site says Instinct can use a phone and a computer as a person would. Its examples include disputing a bill, sending gifts, ordering groceries and booking appointments.
Connected services
You authorize it to work in third-party sites and apps for you. Linking Google Workspace gives it Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Tasks.
Purchases on your behalf
It can buy things on connected services with a payment method you provide, such as booking a ride. The terms treat you, not Instinct, as the buyer in each transaction.
Vault
A separate store for sensitive material. The terms say items added to the Vault are used only to provide the service to you and are not used to train AI models.

Meta Muse

Muse Secure VM
Each user gets a persistent, isolated Linux computer in the cloud with a full browser, shared with the agent, and can step in at any point while a task runs.
Goals and background work
Given a goal, Muse builds an action plan, tracks progress and takes on tasks along the way. It keeps working after the app is closed and returns when it needs approval.
Connectors and self-built tools
Connects to email, calendar, Instagram and other apps, with the level of access set by the user. If a task needs a tool that does not exist, Muse builds one.
Approvals and audit trail
Asks before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, with options to allow once, always allow or deny, and keeps a record of what it has done and plans to do.
Purchases through Link
Checks out with Link, built by Stripe, using a one-time card number so the merchant and the agent never see the real card. Eligible purchases carry Link's purchase protections.
Mobile, Mac, web and WhatsApp
Conversations work like messaging a person, in the mobile app, on muse.ai or directly in WhatsApp. The Mac app also works with local files, apps and browser tabs.
