How we grade them
| 3.4GPAOpus OneVery good | 3.0GPAPlanWizVery good | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | AThe US App Store lists Pro at $4.99 and $39.99, sold monthly or yearly, without saying which price is which. If $39.99 is the year, that's about $3.33 a month against a typical $8. One subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. | B$39.99 a year is cheap next to other planners, where paid plans start around $7.99 a month. But the weekly option is $3.99, which is over $200 if you leave it running for a year. And beyond the full template library, PlanWiz doesn't spell out what paying adds. |
| Free plan and trial | BThe core planner is free, but Daily Tasks, Master Tasks and Daily Notes are limited, and the listing doesn't say by how much. Sync between your devices, goals and repeating tasks are all Pro. | BThere's a free tier with no card and no countdown: core planning, customising and some of the templates. How many is "some"? PlanWiz doesn't say, and the full library is paid. |
| Features | AA page per day with A/B/C priorities and your calendar beside it, a master list, five planner views, goals tied to daily tasks, journals, a meeting planner and an Eisenhower matrix. That's a full paper planner and then some. | BDaily, weekly and monthly layouts, a to-do list with reminders, a habit tracker with streaks, a journal, a mood log, and PDF or PNG export. That's a lot in one app. But no integrations are listed, so it's a planner that keeps to itself. |
| Ease of use | A4.7 from about 960 App Store ratings. It's laid out like a paper day planner, and you move tasks, events and goals by dragging them. | BNo App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. Starting from a finished template beats staring at a blank page, and on an iPad you can write by hand with Apple Pencil. |
| Platforms and integrations | CiPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders hooked in. All Apple, though. No Android, Windows or web version. | BiPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, with sync between them. There's no web version and no Windows, and the Mac app needs macOS 12 and an Apple M1 chip or later. It doesn't list any integrations. |
| Best for | a paper-style page for every day, on Apple | ready-made planner pages you can restyle |
