How we grade them

Value for money
AThe US App Store lists Pro at $4.99 and $39.99, sold monthly or yearly, without saying which price is which. If $39.99 is the year, that's about $3.33 a month against a typical $8. One subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.
AThe US App Store lists Pro at $2.99, $6.99 and $7.99 a month and from $9.99 to $39.99 a year, or $99.99 once for life. Even the top yearly price is under half what a typical planner costs over a year. Prices change by region, and Structured publishes no price list.
Free plan and trial
BThe core planner is free, but Daily Tasks, Master Tasks and Daily Notes are limited, and the listing doesn't say by how much. Sync between your devices, goals and repeating tasks are all Pro.
BFree for good, with the timeline, an inbox, subtasks, notes, notifications, widgets and sync. That's a real planner. But repeating tasks, calendar import, Reminders import and the AI all need Pro, and a day planner without your calendar in it is a tight deal.
Features
AA page per day with A/B/C priorities and your calendar beside it, a master list, five planner views, goals tied to daily tasks, journals, a meeting planner and an Eisenhower matrix. That's a full paper planner and then some.
AOne timeline for tasks and events with day, week and month views, an inbox for things not yet scheduled, imports from Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do, repeating tasks, Replan for the ones you missed, and an AI that drafts your day or scans a paper timetable.
Ease of use
A4.7 from about 960 App Store ratings. It's laid out like a paper day planner, and you move tasks, events and goals by dragging them.
A4.8 from about 167,000 App Store ratings, which is a huge crowd to keep happy. Your day is a single coloured line you read top to bottom. No manual needed for that.
Platforms and integrations
CiPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Apple Reminders hooked in. All Apple, though. No Android, Windows or web version.
AiPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and a web app, kept in step by Structured Cloud. It pulls in Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. No Windows app, and the web version doesn't have every feature of the phone apps yet.

  • Users who work only on iPhone, iPad and Mac

Structured

  • People who prefer a visual timeline of the day to a plain task list
  • Apple users who want one planner on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch
  • Buyers who would rather pay once: Pro has a lifetime purchase option

Worth knowing

Opus One

  • Apple devices only: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. The vendor lists no Android, Windows or web version.
  • Cloud sync, goals, attachments, categories, repeating rules, weather and Siri all need the Opus One Pro subscription.
  • The App Store lists two Pro prices, $4.99 and $39.99, and says the subscription is monthly or yearly without labelling which price is which.
  • The Apple Reminders import is one-way: imported tasks are removed from the Reminders list.

Structured

  • The vendor publishes no price list. Pro pricing depends on region and currency and is shown in the app or app store.
  • Recurring tasks, calendar import, Reminders import, Replan and Structured AI all require Structured Pro.
  • There is no Windows app. Structured Web runs in a browser but does not yet have every feature of the mobile apps.
  • Structured Web needs an internet connection and a Structured Cloud sync account.

Key features

Opus One

A page for each day
Each day has its own page holding tasks ranked by A/B/C priority, a schedule that shows calendar events next to the tasks, daily notes, the weather and a quote.
Master Tasks
A separate list for tasks that have no due date yet, kept apart from the daily pages until a place is found for them in the planner.
Planner views
Five planner views cover a day, a week or a month with the task list at the side. Tasks, events and goals are rescheduled by dragging and dropping them.
Goals, roles and mission
Goals have timelines and visible progress and can be linked to daily tasks. Separate pages hold life roles, a mission statement, values and vision.
Notes and journals
Notes take text, photos, PDFs, checklists, audio and drawings. Journals come with 25 covers and include a guided Gratitude Journal.
Eisenhower matrix and categories
Tasks can be shown in an Eisenhower matrix, sorted by priority or by color-coded category, and repeated with custom rules.

Structured

Visual timeline
Tasks and imported calendar events appear on one timeline for the day, with daily, weekly and monthly views and color coding.
Inbox, subtasks and notes
Tasks can wait in an inbox until they are scheduled, and carry subtasks, notes, icons and notifications. All of this is in the free version.
Calendar and Reminders import
Brings in events from Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook and to-do lists from Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. Requires Structured Pro.
Recurring tasks and Replan
Repeat tasks on a schedule, and use Replan to move missed tasks onto another day. Both are Pro features.
Structured AI
Drafts a daily schedule and can scan a physical planner or timetable into the timeline. Requires Structured Pro.
Sync across devices
Structured Cloud sync shares data and Pro access between Apple devices, Android and the web app, and the Apple Watch app shows the schedule on your wrist.
