Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 37 of the 50 other link building tools we grade
BacklinkOS is a shared workspace for link builders who trade links. You can find other link builders and invite them to collaborate, track each exchange with your partner in one shared list, chat inside the app and log paid placements with their vendor and cost. Paid plans add scheduled checks that flag links that are removed or turned nofollow or sponsored.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about BacklinkOS, taken from its own pages and our grades.
You list your domains and invite partners before it's much use, and the shared view only pays off once the other side joins too.
- 1
Best for tracking link exchanges with partners
BacklinkOS keeps one shared list of link exchanges between you and each partner, with chat beside it, and that part is free for good.

As its pricing page puts it: $15 per month, billed annually ($19 billed monthly).
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited collaborators, chat and tracked exchanges, 40 partner matches, 50 paid links, 25 monitored links and 10 domains, plus 50 one-time link checks.

The report card
Best for tracking link exchanges with partners
BacklinkOS keeps one shared list of link exchanges between you and each partner, with chat beside it, and that part is free for good. It doesn't show a site's full backlink profile or send any outreach, and links are only checked automatically from Pro, and then just once a month.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Pro is $15 a month billed annually, or $19 month to month, which sits at the top of the cheapest quarter of link building tools (that quarter runs to $15). It buys the full partner directory, monthly monitoring and 200 link checks a month. |
| Free plan and trial | B | Free for good with no card: unlimited collaborators, chat and tracked exchanges, 10 domains and 50 paid links. One person trading links could live on it. The catch is that the 50 link checks are a one-time allowance, and nothing is checked automatically. |
| Features | C | A partner finder, shared exchange tracking, a log of bought links and checks for live, removed, nofollow or sponsored. It does the exchange job fully, but that's a smaller job: there's no email outreach, and it doesn't report a site's full backlink profile. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record. You list your domains and invite partners before it's much use, and the shared view only pays off once the other side joins too. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Web only, with Slack as the one named integration and CSV import for bringing links in. No API, desktop or phone app on record. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who BacklinkOS is for
- Fits if you trade links with other site owners and track the swaps in spreadsheets now
- Works for keeping bought links and exchanged links in one list
Who it is not for
- Tight if you're staying free: the 50 link checks and 50 metric refreshes are one-time, with 10 domains and 40 partner matches
- Not for you if you want links checked without lifting a finger, as monitoring starts at Pro and runs monthly
- Pricey if you need weekly checks, which mean Pro Max at $63 a month billed annually ($79 monthly)
- Skip it if you need a full backlink audit or outreach emails, as it only tracks the links you log
- Watch out: Slack is the only integration named, and links come in by CSV import
Good to know
Good for
- Link builders who arrange link exchanges with other site owners
- Partners who want to see the same exchange status without swapping spreadsheets
- Keeping bought and exchanged links in one tracked list
Worth knowing
- The free plan's 50 link checks and 50 metric refreshes are one-time allowances that do not renew.
- Automated monitoring starts at Pro and runs only monthly there; weekly checks need Pro Max at $63 a month billed annually.
- It is built around link exchanges and partners; it does not report a site's full backlink profile.
- Slack is the only integration named; collaborators and links can be brought in by CSV import.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace BacklinkOS you would be making an index of the links between billions of web pages. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 2.4 is higher than 37 of the 50 other link building tools we grade. It costs $180 a year.
What you could make
- Link outreach: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- An index of the links between billions of web pages.
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
What this rests on. BacklinkOS’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
