Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 9 of the 39 other rank trackers we grade

Bisibility is an open-source SEO app for Google rank tracking, keyword research, backlinks and AI answer tracking. It holds no search data of its own: checks run through your DataForSEO or SerpApi account, or through prepaid credits. You can host it yourself for free or use the hosted Cloud version, and AI agents can work with the data through MCP.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Bisibility, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for rank tracking on your own SERP data account

Bisibility is an open-source app for Google rank tracking, keyword research, backlinks and AI answer tracking, which you host yourself for free or use as Cloud for $3 a month.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $3 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $3 per month, plus search data paid separately.

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Self-hosted: the full open-source app (AGPL-3.0) is free to run on your own server, with search data from your own DataForSEO or SerpApi account.

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

    Web.

  5. 5

    Rank tracking with SERP history

Google positions by location and device on a schedule you set, with a stored snapshot of the results page from every check.

  6. 6

    Choice of data provider

Checks run on DataForSEO or SerpApi in an order you set; each result records which provider returned it and what it cost.

  7. 7

    AI answer tracking

Repeats set prompts and keeps the answers and citations; through DataForSEO it covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews.

  8. 8

    A 2.2 GPA, above 9 of 39

That is against the other rank trackers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Bisibility you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for rank tracking on your own SERP data account

Bisibility is an open-source app for Google rank tracking, keyword research, backlinks and AI answer tracking, which you host yourself for free or use as Cloud for $3 a month. Neither way includes search data: you pay DataForSEO or SerpApi, or buy credits at their cost plus 30%, and it puts 100 daily keywords at about $12 a month in DataForSEO usage alone.

ToolGPA report cardBisibilityGraded Oct 23, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCCloud is $3 a month, but no search data is included. Bisibility puts 100 keywords checked daily at about $12 a month in DataForSEO usage, so roughly $15 all in, between this category's cheaper quarter ($10) and middle ($19.99). Self-hosting is free but needs a server.
Free plan and trialCSelf-hosting the full app costs nothing, and Cloud has a 7-day trial with no card. But every check still needs paid search data from DataForSEO or SerpApi, or credits bought in $5 to $100 packs.
FeaturesCGoogle rankings by location and device with a saved results page per check, AI answer tracking, keyword research, backlinks, a sampled site audit and Search Console history past 16 months. The gaps: rankings are Google only, and most extras need DataForSEO.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. Cloud saves you hosting it, but you still connect a DataForSEO or SerpApi account or buy credits, and lookups are priced one by one, so there's setup before the first check.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only, with no desktop or phone app. It links to DataForSEO, SerpApi, Search Console, GA4 and Plausible, and has MCP for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex, a REST API, a CLI and SDKs.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Bisibility is for

  • Fits if you're a developer who wants to host rank tracking yourself and keep the data
  • Works for people who already pay DataForSEO or SerpApi and want an app on top

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want the data included in the price, as checks run on your own DataForSEO or SerpApi account, or on credits
  • Watch out: credits cost the provider's rate plus 30%, come in $5 to $100 packs and are non-refundable
  • Too light for Maps grids, research, backlinks or AI tracking on SerpApi alone, which covers Google rankings and the Local Pack only
  • Tight if you run lots of checks on Cloud, which has a weekly processing limit shown only in the app
  • Not for you if you need rankings beyond Google, as no other search engine is on record

Good to know

Good for

  • Developers who want to self-host rank tracking and keep the data
  • People who already pay DataForSEO or SerpApi and want an app on top
  • Teams that want AI agents to query their SEO data

Worth knowing

  • Neither Cloud nor self-hosting includes search data: you need a DataForSEO or SerpApi account, or credits at provider cost plus 30%.
  • Bisibility estimates about $12 a month in DataForSEO usage for 100 keywords checked daily to the top 20, in one location on one device.
  • Credits come in $5 to $100 packs that never expire and are non-refundable; Cloud also has a weekly processing limit shown in the app.
  • Maps grid, keyword research, backlinks and AI tracking need DataForSEO; SerpApi covers Google rankings and the Local Pack only.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Bisibility you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 17 of the 39 other rank trackers grade higher. It costs $36 a year. Bisibility is open source, so there is a third way: take its code and run it yourself.

What you could not

  • Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
  • An index of the links between billions of web pages.
  • Daily checks of where your pages rank in search results.
  • The same prompts asked of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers every day, and the answers kept.
  • It plugs into other products, DataForSEO, SerpApi and Google Search Console among them, and has an API.

What this rests on. Bisibility’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
