Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 27 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Brisqi is a personal kanban app for Windows, macOS and Linux that keeps boards on the computer and works without an internet connection or an account. Cards carry Markdown descriptions, subtasks, labels, due dates and comments, and a calendar and an upcoming tasks panel show what is due. Desktop licenses are sold as one-time payments, while cloud sync and the iOS and Android apps come with a yearly subscription.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Brisqi, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, and the work here is building the thing: boards, lists, labels, then cards, before it does anything for you.

The report card

Best for a private kanban board that works offline

Brisqi is a kanban board that keeps your boards on your own computer, with no account and no internet needed, on Windows, Mac and Linux. A desktop license is $29.99 once with 1 year of updates. But the free version stops at 2 boards, there are no integrations, it's built for one person, and boards on your phone need the Standard plan at $80 a user a year.

ToolGPA report cardBrisqiGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyB$29.99 once for one computer, less than a year on this category's middle subscription. Two catches: the licence only carries 1 year of updates, and sync with the phone apps is Standard at $80 a user a year, dearer than anything else here.
Free plan and trialCNo card, no account, and giving an email at download is optional. But you stop at 2 boards, 5 lists per board and 5 labels. Work, home and one side project and you're already over the line.
FeaturesCIt does personal kanban: Markdown cards, subtasks, labels, due dates, comments, card links, a calendar, filters. But that's a smaller job than this category's, and Brisqi says itself it isn't built for teams. No integrations at all.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and the work here is building the thing: boards, lists, labels, then cards, before it does anything for you. There's no sign-up to get past.
Platforms and integrationsBWindows, Mac and Linux, plus iPhone and Android if you take Standard. No web version, and the integrations list is empty: no API, no calendar hook, nothing. Backups go to a folder you pick.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Brisqi is for

  • Fits if you want your boards on your own disk, with no account and no analytics
  • Works for freelancers and students who'd rather pay $29.99 once than subscribe, on one computer

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you need your boards on your phone, as sync and the mobile apps cost $80 a user a year
  • Tight if you're staying free, with only 2 boards, 5 lists on each and 5 labels
  • Not for you if you need a team board, since Brisqi says it's built for one person
  • Watch out: one-time licenses include 1 year of updates; later updates need a renewal
  • Too light for linking to other tools, as there's no API, no calendar hook and no web version

Good to know

Good for

  • Personal kanban boards kept on a desktop computer
  • People who prefer a one-time license to a subscription
  • Working where internet access is restricted or missing
  • Solo developers, freelancers, researchers and students

Worth knowing

  • The free version stops at 2 boards, 5 lists per board and 5 labels.
  • One-time licenses include 1 year of updates. The activated version keeps working after that, but later updates need a renewal.
  • Cloud sync and the iOS and Android apps need the Standard plan at $80 per user / year; the one-time licenses cover offline desktop use only.
  • It is built for individual use: the vendor says it is not designed to replace team tools with real-time collaboration, permissions and reporting.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Brisqi for yourself: kanban boards, tasks and Markdown. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $29.99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Kanban boards, tasks and Markdown: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • End-to-end encryption done properly.

What this rests on. Brisqi’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
