To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Calilio, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The report card
Best for solo founders on a tight phone budget
Calilio is a budget phone system: $12 a person a month on yearly billing gets a free US, Canada or UK number and a bundle of minutes and texts, with call recording included. Past the bundle, you pay from a wallet. There's no trial, no desktop app, and only two CRMs connect.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | $12 a head for five on Standard, billed yearly ($15 monthly), inside this category's cheaper quarter ($14). Standard stops at 10 users, and the IVR and power dialer need Premium at $28. |
| Free plan and trial | F | No free plan and no free trial on record, so you pay before you can try it. |
| Features | C | Calls, texts, call recording, ring strategies and forwarding, with IVR, a power dialer and live monitoring on Premium. The gaps: minutes come in bundles (200 out and 100 in on Standard), AI transcription is 10 minutes on Standard, and the API isn't out yet. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. Once the bundle runs out you're watching a prepaid wallet, and US texting needs A2P registration first. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | The browser, a Chrome extension and iPhone and Android apps, so phone and computer are covered. But only HubSpot and Pipedrive connect, with Salesforce and Zoho coming soon, and there's no desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Calilio is for
- Great if you're a solo founder who wants a business number for $12 a month
- Handy when you need numbers in lots of countries from one account
- Good for small teams calling and texting mostly in the US and Canada
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want a free trial, as there isn't one on record
- Tight if you talk a lot, since Standard covers 200 outgoing minutes before the wallet kicks in
- Not for you if your CRM isn't HubSpot or Pipedrive
Good to know
Good for
- Solo founders and small teams on a tight budget
- Businesses that call and text mostly in the US and Canada
- Teams that want numbers in many countries from one account
Worth knowing
- Calls and texts beyond the bundle come out of a prepaid wallet; outbound US and Canada calls are $0.0178 a minute and US texts $0.0034 each.
- Standard is capped at 10 users, and IVR, the power dialer and live monitoring need Premium.
- There is no desktop app; Calilio runs in the browser, a Chrome extension and the mobile apps. API and webhook access is marked coming soon.
- Texting US numbers needs A2P 10DLC registration: $4.50 for the brand and $15 for campaign screening, plus monthly campaign fees.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Calilio you would be making phone numbers and calls carried over the phone network. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 16 of the 19 other business phone systems grade higher. It costs $144 a year.
What you could not
- Phone numbers and calls carried over the phone network.
- Texts from a business number, registered with the carriers.
- Speech turned into text you can trust.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Calilio’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
