Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 6 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade
COL Reminder is a reminder app for Android phones, with a Wear OS companion that shows notifications on a watch. It handles text, phone call, parking-time, birthday and location-based reminders and backs them up to Google Drive; the developer describes it as a reminder tool and says it should not be confused with a to-do list. The app is free to use, a donation unlocks a few extra features, and adding reminders from a computer's browser needs a subscription.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about COL Reminder, taken from its own pages and our grades.
It can remind you to call someone and dial the number in one tap, or count down a parking meter.
- 1

What it costs
Paid plans start at $0.99 to $19.99 per item, in-app purchases on Google Play (basis not shown).

- 5
Text and phone call reminders
A text reminder notifies at an exact time, and a call reminder notifies when a call is due and dials the number with one tap.
- 6
Parking and birthday reminders
A parking reminder runs a countdown for a short-term parking spot, and birthday reminders notify a few days ahead and again on the day.
- 7
Location-based reminders

The report card
Best for timed alerts on an Android phone
COL Reminder does alerts, and its developer says plainly it's not a to-do list. It can remind you to call someone and dial the number in one tap, or count down a parking meter. The Android app is free, and a donation unlocks location reminders, the widget, full repeats and priorities. But it's Android only, and no price is published for the donation or the web add-on.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | No price is published anywhere. The donation that unlocks four features and the web subscription both go unpriced on the site, and Google Play shows only $0.99 to $19.99 per item. Nothing to judge, so it sits with the middle. |
| Free plan and trial | B | The app is free to use and you could live on it: text, phone call, parking and birthday reminders plus Google Drive backup. The caps are real, though. Location reminders, the widget, the full repeat options and priorities all wait on a donation. |
| Features | C | It does alerts completely: one-tap call reminders, a parking countdown, birthdays warned days ahead, place-based alerts with a range you pick. But that's a far smaller job than this category's, and the developer says himself it isn't a to-do list. |
| Ease of use | B | No store rating on record, but nothing needs setting up: pick a reminder type, set a time, done. Backups to Google Drive can run on their own once you've switched them on. |
| Platforms and integrations | D | One operating system. Android, with a Wear OS companion for the watch. The browser page isn't a separate app: it just pushes reminders to the phone, and it needs both the app and a subscription. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who COL Reminder is for
- Fits if you want a nudge to ring someone back, with the number ready to dial
- Works for Android users who park on meters and want reminders backed up to Google Drive
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you have an iPhone, because it's Android only
- Too light for a to-do list, and the developer says as much
- Not for you if you want prices up front, as the site doesn't publish any and Google Play shows $0.99 to $19.99
- Tight if you stay free, as location reminders, the widget, full repeats and priorities need a donation
- Watch out: the web page only pushes reminders to the phone, and it needs the app and a subscription
Good to know
Good for
- Android users who want timed alerts, not a task manager
- Reminders to make a phone call or move a parked car
- People who want reminders backed up to Google Drive
Worth knowing
- It is an Android app only; the web page just sends reminders to the phone app and needs both the app and a subscription.
- The developer states that it is a reminder app and should not be confused with a to-do list.
- Location-based reminders, the active-reminders widget, the full repeat options and priorities are unlocked only by a donation.
- The site publishes no prices for donations or the web subscription; Google Play shows only a range of $0.99 to $19.99 per item.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.
You could make the core of COL Reminder for yourself: tasks. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call.
What you could make
- Tasks: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- A real app for Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- Hooks into the device itself: a Wear OS app.
What this rests on. COL Reminder’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
