Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

1.8

GPA, above 0 of the 51 other email apps we grade

Cora is an AI email assistant from Every, a media and software company, that works on top of a Gmail or Google Workspace account. It keeps mail that needs a reply in the inbox, drafts responses in the user's writing style and gathers everything else into a summary called a Brief, delivered twice a day. There is no new email client to move to: Cora works at the Gmail server level and adds a web interface for briefs, chat, to-dos and settings.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Cora, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for Gmail users drowning in newsletters

Cora is an AI assistant that sits on top of Gmail: it leaves the mail that needs a reply in your inbox, drafts answers in your voice, and rolls the rest into a Brief twice a day.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $20 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $20 per month, billed annually ($240); $25 billed monthly.

  3. 3

    You can try it first

7-day free trial according to the pricing FAQ; Cora's help center lists a 14-day free trial

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

    Web.

  5. 5

    Inbox screening

Cora checks for new mail every 10 minutes and sorts each message by your rules first, then by AI. Mail that needs a prompt reply stays in the Gmail inbox and the rest is archived for the next Brief.

  6. 6

    Twice-daily Briefs

A Brief summarizes newsletters, promotions, notifications and FYI messages by category, by default each morning and afternoon. It arrives as an email and can also be read on the web.

  7. 7

    Draft replies in your voice

When Cora has enough context from your email history, it writes a reply and leaves it in your drafts folder for you to review, edit and send.

  8. 8

    A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 51

That is against the other email apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Cora you would be making an AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for Gmail users drowning in newsletters

Cora is an AI assistant that sits on top of Gmail: it leaves the mail that needs a reply in your inbox, drafts answers in your voice, and rolls the rest into a Brief twice a day. It's $20 a month on yearly billing for 2 accounts, with no free plan. It only works with Gmail and Google Workspace, ignores mail from before you switch it on, has no phone or desktop app, and its own pages disagree on the trial length.

ToolGPA report cardCoraGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyD$20 a month billed annually ($240), or $25 month to month, for 2 accounts. Email tools here sit around $8 in the middle and the dearest tenth starts at $25, so the monthly price is in that tenth. More than 2 accounts means $39 a month.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. There is a trial, but Cora's own pages disagree on how long: the pricing FAQ says 7 days and the help center says 14. Nothing on record says whether it asks for a card.
FeaturesCScreening every 10 minutes, drafts in your style, twice-daily Briefs, a chat assistant, to-dos and a CLI. But it's a layer on top of Gmail rather than a mail app, and its own pages say it only handles mail that arrives after you switch it on, so a backlog stays put.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. There's no new email app to learn, but you're connecting a Gmail account and then teaching it categories and sender rules before the Briefs look right.
Platforms and integrationsCA web app and nothing else: no phone or desktop app is listed. Gmail and Google Workspace only, as Cora's site says Outlook and other providers aren't supported yet. The CLI that lets agents like Claude Code read your mail is beta, on macOS and Linux.
Grade point averageWeak, out of 4.01.8

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Cora is for

  • Fits if newsletters and notifications bury the few emails that need a reply from you
  • Works for people who want replies drafted for them but still press send themselves

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you're on Outlook or anything that isn't Gmail, as it isn't supported yet
  • Not for you if you want a backlog cleared, because it only handles mail that arrives after setup
  • Pricey if you run more than 2 accounts, which needs Unlimited at $39 a month billed annually
  • Watch out: there's no free plan, and the pricing FAQ says the trial is 7 days while the help center says 14
  • Tight if you want it on your phone or desktop, as it's web only and the CLI is a macOS and Linux beta

Good to know

Good for

  • Gmail and Google Workspace users buried in newsletters and notifications
  • People who want replies drafted for them but prefer to press send themselves
  • Developers who want to give an AI agent access to their inbox through a CLI

Worth knowing

  • Gmail and Google Workspace only: the site says Outlook and other email providers are not supported yet.
  • There is no free plan. The pricing FAQ gives a 7-day free trial, while the help center's plans article says 14 days.
  • Professional covers 2 email accounts; adding more needs Unlimited at $39 a month billed annually.
  • Cora only handles mail that arrives after it is turned on, so it does not clear an existing backlog.

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

0/51

Other email apps it is graded above

Cora's GPA of 1.8 is higher than 0 of the 51 other email apps we grade, and level with 1.

It stands best on free plan and trial (C, above 4 of 51) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Its paid plans start at $20 a month, against a middle price of $4.99 for the category: 39 of the 45 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Cora you would be making an AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 50 of the 51 other email apps grade higher. It costs $240 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
  • Filters that read every message as it arrives.

What this rests on. Cora’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
