Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 8 of the 33 other team communication apps we grade

Dailybot runs asynchronous check-ins such as daily standups inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord, then compiles the answers into reports with blockers flagged. AI summaries, workflow automations, forms and a kudos system for peer recognition are built on top, and coding agents can report their progress through a CLI and skill pack. Reports and settings also live in a web dashboard.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Dailybot, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The questions land in a chat your team already has open, so there's no new app to learn.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for written standups inside the chat you already use

Dailybot isn't a chat app: it's a bot that lives in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord, asks everyone the standup questions and rolls the answers into one report with blockers flagged.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $2.40 a month for each person

As its pricing page puts it: $2.40 per active user / month, billed annually ($3 billed monthly).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Starter: unlimited members in 1 workspace, standup check-ins and kudos, capped at 50 compiled check-in reports per organization a month and 14 days of history.

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

Web, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Async check-ins

Scheduled questions such as a daily standup or a retrospective reach each person in chat, across time zones, and the answers are compiled into one report with blockers flagged.

  6. 6

    AI summaries and reports

AI summarizes standup responses and surfaces blockers on Essentials and Advanced. AI-generated reports on trends and team health are limited to Advanced.

  7. 7

    Automations

Multi-step workflows run on a trigger such as a check-in response, form submission, schedule or webhook, then send messages, call APIs, update records or request approvals.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 8 of 33

That is against the other team communication apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Dailybot you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for written standups inside the chat you already use

Dailybot isn't a chat app: it's a bot that lives in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord, asks everyone the standup questions and rolls the answers into one report with blockers flagged. It starts at $2.40 a person. But you pay for every active member whether they answer or not, the free plan stops at 50 reports a month, and the API waits for Advanced.

ToolGPA report cardDailybotGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyBEssentials is $2.40 per active user a month billed annually, $3 monthly, the cheapest of the standup bots it lists itself against: Geekbot $2.50, Range $8, Steady $25 a month for credits. Advanced, where the API and CLI live, is $5. Every active member is billed, answering or not.
Free plan and trialCStarter is free for unlimited members in one workspace, but the caps bite early: 50 compiled reports a month for the whole organization, 14 days of history, 20 kudos a month, and no AI summaries, forms or integrations.
FeaturesCIt does its own job fully: scheduled check-ins across time zones, one report with blockers flagged, AI summaries, multi-step automations, forms, kudos, a CLI so coding agents report in. But that's a smaller job than running the chat, and it needs Slack, Teams, Google Chat or Discord to reach anybody.
Ease of useCNo rating on record. The questions land in a chat your team already has open, so there's no new app to learn. But someone has to connect the workspace first, write the check-in questions and set the schedule before any of that happens.
Platforms and integrationsBA web dashboard and a Chrome extension, running inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and Discord, with Jira, GitHub, Linear and Zapier connected. No app of its own on desktop or phone, and the public API is on Advanced only.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Dailybot is for

  • Fits if your team is spread over time zones and the live standup keeps losing people
  • Works for teams already in Slack, Teams, Google Chat or Discord

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you're after a chat app, because it only runs inside someone else's
  • Tight if you're staying free, with 50 reports a month, 14 days of history and no AI summaries or integrations
  • Pricey if half your workspace never answers, since every active member is billed until an admin deactivates them
  • Watch out: the API, CLI, AI workflows, anonymous answers and 2FA need Advanced at $5 a user
  • Not for you if you want a phone or desktop app, as it's a web dashboard and a Chrome extension

Good to know

Good for

  • Distributed teams replacing live standup meetings with written updates
  • Teams that already work in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord
  • Engineering teams that want coding agents to report progress next to people

Worth knowing

  • Dailybot is not a standalone chat app: it runs inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord, with a web dashboard and a Chrome extension.
  • Starter is capped at 50 compiled check-in reports a month and 14 days of history, and has no AI summaries, forms or integrations.
  • Paid plans bill every member whose status is active, whether or not they use Dailybot; an admin has to deactivate people to stop paying for them.
  • The public API, CLI, agent skill pack, AI workflows, anonymous responses and role-based access with 2FA are limited to Advanced.

8/33

Other team communication apps it is graded above

Dailybot's GPA of 2.4 is higher than 8 of the 33 other team communication apps we grade, and level with 11.

It stands best on value for money (B, above 24 of 33) and worst on free plan and trial (C, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Dailybot you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 14 of the 33 other team communication apps grade higher. It costs $28.80 a year.

What you could make

  • Forms, reports and templates: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Dailybot’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
