Who each one suits

Dailybot

  • Distributed teams replacing live standup meetings with written updates
  • Teams that already work in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord
  • Engineering teams that want coding agents to report progress next to people

Geekbot

  • Remote teams replacing daily standup meetings with written check-ins
  • Teams of up to 10 participants, which can use it free
  • Managers who want blockers and team mood summarized from updates
  • Running quick polls and recurring surveys inside Slack or Teams

Worth knowing

Dailybot

  • Dailybot is not a standalone chat app: it runs inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord, with a web dashboard and a Chrome extension.
  • Starter is capped at 50 compiled check-in reports a month and 14 days of history, and has no AI summaries, forms or integrations.
  • Paid plans bill every member whose status is active, whether or not they use Dailybot; an admin has to deactivate people to stop paying for them.
  • The public API, CLI, agent skill pack, AI workflows, anonymous responses and role-based access with 2FA are limited to Advanced.

Geekbot

  • Geekbot works inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, so a team needs one of them; its own web dashboard is for setup, analytics and billing.
  • The free Starter plan covers up to 10 active participants and keeps up to 3 months of reporting history.
  • API access, Geekbot AI, anonymous reporting, engagement summaries and CSV exports are listed under the Basic plan.
  • Standups and polls are billed separately: standups per participant, polls and surveys per respondent.

Key features

Dailybot

Async check-ins
Scheduled questions such as a daily standup or a retrospective reach each person in chat, across time zones, and the answers are compiled into one report with blockers flagged.
AI summaries and reports
AI summarizes standup responses and surfaces blockers on Essentials and Advanced. AI-generated reports on trends and team health are limited to Advanced.
Automations
Multi-step workflows run on a trigger such as a check-in response, form submission, schedule or webhook, then send messages, call APIs, update records or request approvals.
Forms
Define questions, share a form by link or embed it in chat, and filter, sort or export the responses. A new response can trigger an automation.
Kudos
Teammates give each other recognition in chat, tied to company values and tracked on a team leaderboard. Starter allows 20 kudos per organization each month.
CLI and agent skill pack
On Advanced, coding agents in Cursor, Claude Code or Codex use the CLI and skill pack to report progress, run check-ins and send updates alongside people.

Geekbot

Asynchronous standups
The bot messages each participant in Slack or Teams with the standup questions, collects the replies and broadcasts every report in a chosen channel.
Schedules across time zones
Questions arrive in each person's local time, participants can set their own reporting times, and out-of-office periods pause the standup.
Polls and surveys
Instant polls and recurring surveys go to channels or DMs, with anonymous voting, AI-generated answer options and results shown as charts.
Insights and analytics
Reporting insights cover participation rates, categories of blockers and team sentiment, and a dashboard tracks reported tasks and projects over time.
Templates
More than 25 pre-built templates include a daily standup, a retrospective, a sales report and an employee NPS survey.
API, MCP server and CLI
The Basic plan includes API access, and an MCP server and a command-line tool connect Geekbot to AI agents.
