Brosix
Private team messaging network with admin controls
What is Brosix?
Brosix gives a company its own closed messaging network: only users added by an administrator can join, and admins decide who can talk to whom and which features are switched on. It covers one-to-one and group chat, chat rooms, voice and video calls, screen sharing with remote desktop, and file transfer of any size. Small teams pay a fixed monthly price for 20 or 50 users, and larger ones pay per user.
Brosix is a paid product with a free trial, starting at $40 per month for up to 20 users, billed yearly ($50 billed monthly). See every plan
Good for
- Small offices that want a fixed monthly price for 20 or 50 users
- Healthcare, finance and legal teams that need a closed, admin-controlled network
- Teams without dedicated IT staff that want chat set up in minutes
Worth knowing
- There is no free plan; every plan starts with a 14-day trial.
- Multiple admins, user permissions, 2FA, custom branding and Active Directory integration are limited to the Ultimate plan.
- Peer-to-peer file transfer, the whiteboard and broadcast messages are available only in the older Windows Classic app.
- End-to-end encryption applies to direct peer-to-peer connections only; messages and shared files are also stored on Brosix's encrypted servers.
Key features
- Private team network
- Only users an administrator adds can join, so outsiders never appear in a contact list. Admins create and remove users and set who can see whom from a web control panel.
- Chat and chat rooms
- One-to-one and group chats with replies, mentions, read receipts and edit or delete, plus chat rooms for teams, projects or departments and a searchable history.
- Voice and video calls
- Audio and video calls between team members are included in every plan, and the Essentials plan cards describe them as unlimited.
- Screen sharing and remote desktop
- Share a screen or take remote control of a colleague's desktop to sort out a problem, and capture and send screenshots from inside the app.
- File transfer
- Send files of any size to a person or a group. The Windows Classic app also offers direct peer-to-peer transfer, a whiteboard and broadcast messages.
- Encryption and compliance controls
- Chat, calls and files are encrypted with AES-256, with end-to-end encryption on direct peer-to-peer connections. Ultimate adds 2FA, IP address permissions and chat history expiration.
