Who each one suits

Brosix

  • Small offices that want a fixed monthly price for 20 or 50 users
  • Healthcare, finance and legal teams that need a closed, admin-controlled network
  • Teams without dedicated IT staff that want chat set up in minutes

Troop Messenger

  • Organizations that want to host their chat on their own servers
  • Government and defense organizations, a segment the vendor targets directly
  • Teams looking for chat and calls at a low per-user price

Worth knowing

Brosix

  • There is no free plan; every plan starts with a 14-day trial.
  • Multiple admins, user permissions, 2FA, custom branding and Active Directory integration are limited to the Ultimate plan.
  • Peer-to-peer file transfer, the whiteboard and broadcast messages are available only in the older Windows Classic app.
  • End-to-end encryption applies to direct peer-to-peer connections only; messages and shared files are also stored on Brosix's encrypted servers.

Troop Messenger

  • No free plan is shown: the pricing page offers a 7-day trial of the Enterprise plan.
  • Screen sharing, group calling, Burnout and LDAP/SSO need the Enterprise plan; Premium has audio calls and 1:1 video calls only.
  • A Superior tier for 500+ users is marked as coming soon on the pricing page, and the vendor's own pages disagree on its price.
  • The vendor's FAQ says video calling and screen sharing do not work in the UAE.

Key features

Brosix

Private team network
Only users an administrator adds can join, so outsiders never appear in a contact list. Admins create and remove users and set who can see whom from a web control panel.
Chat and chat rooms
One-to-one and group chats with replies, mentions, read receipts and edit or delete, plus chat rooms for teams, projects or departments and a searchable history.
Voice and video calls
Audio and video calls between team members are included in every plan, and the Essentials plan cards describe them as unlimited.
Screen sharing and remote desktop
Share a screen or take remote control of a colleague's desktop to sort out a problem, and capture and send screenshots from inside the app.
File transfer
Send files of any size to a person or a group. The Windows Classic app also offers direct peer-to-peer transfer, a whiteboard and broadcast messages.
Encryption and compliance controls
Chat, calls and files are encrypted with AES-256, with end-to-end encryption on direct peer-to-peer connections. Ultimate adds 2FA, IP address permissions and chat history expiration.

Troop Messenger

Messaging and groups
One-to-one and group chats with replies, forwarding, message edit and recall, and voice and video messages. Airtime groups let only admins and moderators post.
Audio and video calls
1:1 and group audio-video calls with screen sharing, plus Join Now for entering a group call already in progress. Group calling and screen sharing are Enterprise features.
Burnout
A one-to-one private chat window for confidential exchanges. Its messages vanish when a preset timer runs out and no chat backup is kept.
Forkout and Orange Member
Forkout sends one message or attachment to many users and groups in a single step. Orange Member invites customers and other non-employees as guest users.
AI features
AI File Summary gives in-chat summaries of shared files and AI Smart Suggestions proposes replies to incoming messages. The homepage also promotes translation and an AI Buddy assistant.
SaaS or on-premise hosting
Use the hosted service or run Troop Messenger on your own servers. LDAP, Active Directory and SSO integration is part of the Enterprise plan.
