Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 18 of the 94 other desktop utilities we grade

DisplayFusion is a Windows utility from Binary Fortress Software for managing multiple monitors. It adds a taskbar to each monitor, sets wallpaper per screen, saves monitor and window-position profiles, splits large monitors into virtual ones, and moves windows with key combinations and extra title bar buttons. A Free version for personal use covers the basics; Pro is a one-time purchase with a lifetime license.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about DisplayFusion, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No rating is on record, but nothing needs setting up to get going: the basics are key combinations and extra title bar buttons.
From our grade for ease of use

  5. 5

  6. 6

    Wallpaper per monitor

Sets a different image on each monitor or spans one across several, from local files or online sources. Wallpaper Profiles and random image rotation need Pro.

  7. 7

The report card

Best for running two or more monitors on Windows

DisplayFusion is a Windows multi-monitor utility with a taskbar per screen, per-screen wallpaper, saved window positions and monitor splitting. Pro is $34 once per machine, but the Free version leaves out the taskbars, profiles and Triggers and is for personal use only. It's Windows only, and full-screen videos and games can't be held inside a monitor split.

ToolGPA report cardDisplayFusionGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyAPro Standard is $34 once per machine, a lifetime license valid for all future versions, which is under a year of this category's middle subscription. Several PCs at home? Pro Personal is $49 for any number of them in one household. No subscription anywhere.
Free plan and trialCThere is a free version, but the listing spells out what it misses: no multi-monitor taskbars, no profiles, no Triggers, no monitor fading. The taskbar is the reason most people come looking, so that's a wall you'll hit. It's personal use only too, and every download starts with a 30-day Pro trial.
FeaturesCThe list: a taskbar per monitor, wallpaper per screen, saved monitor and window profiles, monitor splitting with bezel padding, 30-odd window Functions and Triggers that fire when a window opens. The listing names the hole, though. Full-screen videos and games can't be held inside a monitor split.
Ease of useBNo rating is on record, but nothing needs setting up to get going: the basics are key combinations and extra title bar buttons. Triggers and Functions scripted in C# or VB.net are there if you want to go further, not before.
Platforms and integrationsDWindows only, one operating system: Windows 11, Windows 10 (1607 or higher) or Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022. Pro can be prodded from an iPhone, iPad or Android device, but only to change wallpaper or toggle monitors on the PC.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who DisplayFusion is for

  • Fits if you work across two or more monitors on Windows
  • Works for ultrawide owners who want to split the screen into virtual monitors

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you're on a Mac or Linux, as it's Windows only, on Windows 10 (1607 or higher) or 11
  • Tight if you're staying free, because multi-monitor taskbars, profiles, splitting and Triggers are all Pro
  • Not for you if you want games held inside a monitor split, since full-screen videos and games can't currently be constrained
  • Watch out: the Free version is for personal use only, so company use needs Pro at $34 a machine
  • Pricey if you need it across a company, at $899 per site or $3,899 for Enterprise

Good to know

Good for

  • Windows users working across two or more monitors
  • Ultrawide owners who want to split one screen into virtual monitors
  • IT teams deploying one license key across a site with MSI and ADMX templates

Worth knowing

  • Windows only: the current version needs Windows 11, Windows 10 (1607 or higher) or Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022.
  • The Free version is licensed for personal use only; company use needs a Pro license.
  • Multi-monitor taskbars, Monitor Profiles, monitor splitting, Triggers, monitor fading and Window Position Profiles are Pro features.
  • The vendor notes that full-screen videos and games cannot currently be constrained to monitor splits.

DisplayFusion's GPA of 2.4 is higher than 18 of the 94 other desktop utilities we grade, and level with 17.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace DisplayFusion you would be making control over other apps' windows. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 59 of the 94 other desktop utilities grade higher. It costs $34, paid once.

What you could not

  • Control over other apps' windows.
  • Control of displays through the operating system.
  • A real app for Windows. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Steam, WinGet and Open Shell among them.

What this rests on. DisplayFusion’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
