Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 1 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade
Eventzilla is an event registration and ticketing platform aimed at conferences, training, meetings and fundraisers, with agendas, speaker and sponsor management, badges and virtual events on top of ticket sales. Free events cost nothing; paid registrations carry a per-registration fee that rises with the plan's features and can be passed to attendees. A yearly Scale plan replaces the fees with a flat subscription.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Eventzilla, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The report card
Best for conferences and training with paid registration
Eventzilla is ticketing with conference tools on top: agendas, speakers, sponsors, abstracts, badges and virtual sessions. Free events cost nothing, and paid registrations carry a fee that rises with the features you need. For a simple paid night out it's on the dear side, at $1.50 a ticket before anything else, and the cheapest plan allows only one paid ticket type.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | $1.50 a paid registration on Basic, $300 on 200 $20 tickets, or $376 on Pro at 1.9% + $1.50, which you need for more than one paid ticket type. Processing is on top and not counted. You can pass the fee to attendees. Towards the dear end, and Scale swaps fees for a yearly plan from $200 a month. |
| Free plan and trial | B | Free events cost nothing, with unlimited events, and no plan but Scale has a subscription. But premium features for free events, such as agendas and call for papers, need an add-on whose price isn't published. |
| Features | B | Ticket types, donations, merchandise, invoices, agendas with session check-in, speaker and sponsor management, abstracts, badge printing, kiosks, virtual events and an event website builder. It covers the whole job, and then some for conferences. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. There's a lot here, from the website builder to badges and abstract reviews, so expect a learning curve before your first event goes live. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, with Stripe, PayPal, Square, Authorize.Net, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Zapier, webhooks and an API, plus an organizer mobile app for check-in. No desktop app, which an A needs. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Eventzilla is for
- Great if you run conferences that need agendas, speakers and badges
- Good for training providers and associations taking paid registrations
- Handy when most of your events are free, as those pay no fees
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you sell low-priced tickets, as the $1.50 per registration doesn't shrink with the price
- Tight if you stay on Basic, which allows only one paid ticket type
Good to know
Good for
- Conferences and trade shows that need agendas, speakers and badges
- Training providers and associations running paid registrations
- Free events, which pay no fees
Worth knowing
- Paid registrations cost $1.50 on Basic, 1.9% + $1.50 on Pro and 2.9% + $1.50 on Plus, plus processing; organizers can pass the fee to attendees.
- Basic allows only one paid ticket type, and passing processing fees to buyers needs Plus and Eventzilla Payments.
- Premium features for free events, such as agendas and call for papers, need a paid add-on whose price is not published.
- The Scale card shows $200 a month billed annually, but the comparison table on the same page says annual pricing starts at $1,999 a year.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Eventzilla you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 8 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms grade higher. It costs $2,400 a year.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
- Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
- It plugs into other products, Stripe, PayPal and Square among them, and has an API.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Eventzilla’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
