Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 28 of the 52 other screen recording and video tools we grade

FocuSee is a screen recorder for Windows and Mac from iMobie that edits a recording as soon as it stops: it zooms in on clicks and typing, styles the cursor and arranges the webcam layout without manual keyframing. An editor adds annotations, blur, subtitles and 3D motion, and optional AI tools generate subtitles, clean up audio and cut filler words using credits. A free browser recorder, FocuSee Online, is also available.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about FocuSee, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for demo videos that zoom themselves

FocuSee records your screen and edits it as soon as you stop: zooms on clicks and typing, a tidied cursor and a webcam layout.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $4.17 a month when paid by the year

As its pricing page puts it: $49.99 per year for Standard ($19.99 billed monthly).

  3. 3

    You can try it first

Free trial of the standard features, with one free video export at up to 4K

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Windows, macOS and Web.

  5. 5

    Automatic zoom and 3D motion

Auto zoom follows clicks and typing to emphasize key actions with no manual keyframing, and 3D motion adds tilt and perspective that follows the cursor.

  6. 6

    Cursor styles and annotations

The cursor fades when it is not needed and can be restyled with click animations and sounds. Annotations include text, shapes, arrows, callouts, spotlights and blur.

  7. 7

    Screen, webcam and audio recording

Records the screen and webcam with microphone and system audio together, captures keyboard shortcuts and mobile devices, and includes camera layouts and a teleprompter.

  8. 8

    A 2.6 GPA, above 28 of 52

That is against the other screen recording and video tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace FocuSee you would be making a video editor. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for demo videos that zoom themselves

FocuSee records your screen and edits it as soon as you stop: zooms on clicks and typing, a tidied cursor and a webcam layout. Standard is $49.99 a year for one computer. The AI extras, such as AI subtitles and filler-word removal, run on credits Standard doesn't include, the trial allows a single export, and paying monthly costs $19.99.

ToolGPA report cardFocuSeeGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyBStandard is $49.99 a year, about $4.17 a month, which sits in the lowest quarter for video tools here, with unlimited videos and 4K 60 FPS export. Advanced with the AI credits is $79.99 a year. Pay monthly and it's $19.99, so don't.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan for the app, and the trial allows a single export, so you get one go. FocuSee Online, a free browser recorder with the zoom effects and no watermark, is a separate and much smaller thing you can keep using.
FeaturesCAuto zoom on clicks and typing, 3D motion, cursor styling, annotations, blur, a teleprompter, webcam layouts, subtitles in 9 languages and 4K 60 FPS export. It does the self-editing demo video fully, and that's a narrow job; the AI tools all run down credits Standard doesn't include.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up and nothing to keyframe: stop recording and the zooms, cursor work and webcam layout are already applied.
Platforms and integrationsBWindows and Mac apps plus a free recorder in the browser. No phone app, no integrations and no API, and licenses are tied to machines: 1 on Standard, 3 on Advanced.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who FocuSee is for

  • Fits if you make product demos and want the zooms added without keyframing
  • Works for recording screen and webcam together with a teleprompter on hand

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want the AI tools on the lowest plan, as Standard includes no AI credits
  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $19.99 against $49.99 for the whole year
  • Tight if you work across machines, because Standard covers 1 computer and Advanced 3
  • Watch out: monthly credits expire after a month, and the one-time plan's 1,000 credits last a year
  • Watch out: the $199.99 one-time license covers FocuSee 2.x only, and the next major version costs an upgrade fee

Good to know

Good for

  • Product demos and tutorials that need zooms without manual editing
  • Presenters recording screen and webcam together with a teleprompter
  • Buyers who prefer a one-time license to a subscription

Worth knowing

  • Standard includes no AI credits: avatars, AI Subtitle, voice enhancement and filler-word removal need credits bought separately or Advanced.
  • Subscription credits are valid for one month, and the one-time plan's 1,000 credits expire after a year.
  • The one-time purchase covers FocuSee 2.x only; moving to the next major version costs an upgrade fee.
  • Licenses are tied to computers (1 on Standard, 3 on Advanced, 5 on the one-time plan), and the free trial allows a single export.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace FocuSee you would be making a video editor. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It costs $49.99 a year.

What you could not

  • A video editor.
  • Audio cleaned up live as you speak.
  • Recording the screen with its sound, and somewhere to keep the video.
  • Speech turned into text you can trust.
  • A real app for macOS and Windows. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. FocuSee’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
