Best for Google Maps grid scans without a subscription
GridRankTracker checks how a Google Business Profile ranks on Google Maps from each point of a grid and draws it as a heat map, paid for with one-time credit packs from $4.99 that never expire. It covers Maps only, with no organic or AI tracking and no integrations or API, and every grid point costs a credit, so scheduled 13×13 scans use packs up fast.
Who GridRankTracker is for
- Fits if you check a local business's Maps ranking across town now and then, without a monthly bill
- Works for service-area businesses whose address is hidden on Google
Who GridRankTracker is not for
- Skip it if you need organic web rankings, other search engines or AI answers, as it tracks Google Maps only
- Tight if you scan often, as each grid point is a credit and a scheduled 13×13 scan uses 169 every run
- Tight if you're staying free, as the 100 credits never refill and exports, sharing and scheduling all need a pack
- Watch out: white-label exports start at Starter ($19.99), and refunds come only within 14 days with under 10% of credits used
- Not for you if you want scans fed into reports or dashboards, as there are no integrations or API
Why GridRankTracker gets a 2.4
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- AValue for moneyPacks are paid once: $4.99 for 1,250 credits up to $79.99 for 20,000, and credits never expire. Even the top pack costs less than a year of this category's middle subscription ($19.99 a month). A 5×5 scan uses 25 credits, so Lite covers about 50.
- CFree plan and trialA free account with no card and no time limit: 100 credits, 1 project, heat maps and competitor data. The credits are a one-time grant, about four 5×5 scans, and exports, sharing, scheduling and comparisons need a paid pack.
- CFeaturesGrids from 3×3 to 13×13, heat maps, competitors at each point, scheduled rescans, before/after comparisons and client share links. It does the Maps grid job fully, but that's a smaller job: no organic rankings, other engines or AI answers.
- CEase of useNo rating on record. No third-party accounts or keys are needed, but you pick grid sizes, keywords and schedules and budget credits by the point.
- CPlatforms and integrationsWeb only, with no desktop or phone app, and no integrations or API on record. Results leave by CSV, image export or a public share link.

Your call
You could make the core of GridRankTracker for yourself: reports.
What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $4.99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
- It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.
What you could not
- Daily checks of where your pages rank in search results.
What this rests on. GridRankTracker’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
What is GridRankTracker?
GridRankTracker is a web-based local rank tracker that checks where a Google Business Profile ranks on Google Maps from each point of a grid laid over its area, and draws the results as a heat map with competitor positions. Paid plans are one-time credit packs rather than subscriptions, and the credits do not expire.
Worth knowing
- Each grid point uses one credit: a 5×5 scan costs 25 credits and a 13×13 scan 169, so heavy scheduled scanning uses packs up quickly.
- The free account's 100 credits are a one-time grant, and exports, share links, scheduling and comparisons all need a paid pack.
- It tracks Google Maps rankings of Google Business Profiles only, not organic web results or other search engines.
- Refunds are given within 14 days of purchase only if fewer than 10% of the purchased credits have been used.
Key features
- Geo-grid scans
- Checks a Google Business Profile's Maps ranking from every point of a grid, from 3×3 up to 13×13 (169 points), and points can be skipped.
- Rank heat map and stats
- Each scan is drawn as a heat map of positions across the area, with summary stats, on every plan including the free account.
- Competitor data per point
- Shows which businesses rank at each grid point and can overlay a competitor's positions on the map; the full competitor profile analysis needs a paid pack.
- Scheduled scans
- Paid packs can set any keyword to rescan daily, weekly or monthly, with results kept in the scan history.
- Before/after comparison
- Compare two scans point by point and export the result as a PNG or CSV, or share it through a public link.
- Client share links
- Completed scans can be shared through a public link that clients open without an account; white-label exports start with Starter.
