It stands best on features (B, above 10 of 48) and worst on ease of use (C, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace HappyScribe you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 26 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers grade higher. It costs $102 a year.

What you could not

  • A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
  • An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
  • Speech turned into text you can trust.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. HappyScribe’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
