Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 22 of the 147 other note-taking apps we grade
Inkpad Notepad is a plain notes app styled after a paper notepad, for text notes, to-do lists and shopping lists. Notes save automatically, sync between Android and iOS devices, and can be opened and edited from a web browser on a computer. It also includes an AI chat assistant and writing tools, with request allowances that rise across three paid plans.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Inkpad Notepad, taken from its own pages and our grades.
It's styled after a paper notepad and saves as you write, with nothing to set up.
- 1
Best for a plain notepad that syncs between phone and browser
Sign-in is Google or Apple only, there's no desktop app, and the website and App Store list different plans.
- 2
Paid plans start at $5 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $5 per month, billed annually.
- 3
There is a free plan
Sync between mobile devices and the web, offline notes and 30 MB of storage, with ads shown. Unlimited syncs, note history and the AI models are listed for paid plans only.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 5
Notes, to-do lists and shopping lists
A note can stay as plain text or be switched to a to-do list or a shopping list. Everything is saved automatically as you write.
- 6
Sync and web access
Notes sync between Android and iOS devices and back up online, and the same account opens them in a web browser on a computer. Notes on the phone stay available offline.
- 7
Search and tags
Keyword search filters the list of notes as you type, and tags group related notes together.
- 8
A 2.4 GPA, above 22 of 147
That is against the other note-taking apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Inkpad Notepad you would be making an AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for a plain notepad that syncs between phone and browser
Inkpad is a plain notepad for phone and browser: you write a note or a shopping list, it saves by itself, and it shows up in a browser at your desk. The free plan shows ads and stops at 30 MB, and the $5 a month Premium plan, billed yearly, mostly buys storage, no ads and 100 AI requests. Sign-in is Google or Apple only, there's no desktop app, and the website and App Store list different plans.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Premium is $5 a month billed annually, which sits between the $2.99 cheaper quarter and the $8.25 dearer one for notes apps here: ordinary. On a plain notepad it buys 500 MB, no ads, 10 old versions per note and 100 AI requests. Standard at $12.50 and Plus at $20 just add AI. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free gets you sync between phone and web, offline notes and 30 MB of storage. But it shows ads, and unlimited syncs, note history and the AI models are all listed for paid plans only, so the caps are real ones. |
| Features | C | Plain notes that switch to a to-do or shopping list, saved as you type, with tags, search and a trash that holds 30 days, plus a GPT chat assistant on top. It does the plain-notepad job fully, and that's a smaller job: note history and the PIN lock are paid, and AI is capped by plan. |
| Ease of use | B | 4.64 from about 8,600 App Store ratings, under the 4.7 an A asks for. It's styled after a paper notepad and saves as you write, with nothing to set up. Sign-in is through a Google or Apple account only. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Android, iPhone and a browser on your computer, all on one account. There's no desktop app, though, and the listing shows no integrations and no API, which is what keeps it off the top mark. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Inkpad Notepad is for
- Fits if you want a plain notepad for lists and quick notes, nothing more
- Works for writing on an Android phone or iPhone and editing in a browser at your desk
Who it is not for
- Tight if you're staying free, with ads on screen and 30 MB of storage
- Pricey if all you want is the ads gone, at $5 a month billed annually
- Skip it if you don't want to sign in with Google or Apple, as those are the only ways in
- Too light for notes with structure, since it's plain text, lists and tags, with no desktop app
- Watch out: the App Store lists monthly options and a $1.99 Basic plan the website omits, and AI requests are capped on every plan
Good to know
Good for
- People who want a plain notepad for lists and quick notes
- Reading and editing phone notes from a computer's browser
- Android and iPhone users who want the same notes on both
Worth knowing
- The free plan shows ads and stops at 30 MB of storage; hiding ads needs a paid plan.
- The website quotes prices billed annually. The US App Store also lists monthly options and a Basic plan ($1.99 monthly, $19.99 yearly) that the website's table omits.
- Sign-in works only through a Google or Apple account.
- AI use is capped by plan, from 100 standard requests on Premium to 600 on Plus, and the advanced model is on Plus only.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Inkpad Notepad you would be making an AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 98 of the 147 other note-taking apps grade higher. It costs $60 a year.
What you could make
- Notes and tasks: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
What this rests on. Inkpad Notepad’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
