Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 20 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

Kerika is a task management tool for remote and distributed teams, built around two kinds of boards: kanban-style Task Boards and free-form Whiteboards. Chat, files and due dates sit on the cards, and project files can be kept in the team's own Google Drive, OneDrive or Box account. It is free for one person working alone; teams pay per Team Member, while view-only Visitors are free.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Kerika, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for remote teams wanting boards and whiteboards

There's no timeline, time tracking, reports or desktop app, and monthly plans get no refund.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $7.50 a month when paid by the year

As its pricing page puts it: $9 per Team Member / month, or $90 per year (US price).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Individual plan: free for one person working alone, with unlimited boards and unlimited view-only Visitors, but no Team Members.

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

Web, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Task Boards

Kanban-style boards with a customizable workflow. Each task can hold a checklist of subtasks that are assigned and scheduled separately, and columns can carry work-in-progress limits.

  6. 6

    Whiteboards

Free-form canvases for sketching ideas and plans. A whiteboard can contain other whiteboards, so large plans can be nested.

  7. 7

Files in your own cloud storage

Signing up with a Google, Microsoft or Box ID keeps project files in your own Google Drive, OneDrive or Box account, and Kerika tracks file versions.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 20 of 79

That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

The plain part of Kerika you could make: kanban boards, tasks and templates. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card

Best for remote teams wanting boards and whiteboards

Kerika is built for remote teams and keeps to two things: kanban-style Task Boards and free-form Whiteboards, with files in your own Google Drive, OneDrive or Box. It's free only if you work alone; anyone who edits with you costs $9 a Team Member a month in the US. There's no timeline, time tracking, reports or desktop app, and monthly plans get no refund.

ToolGPA report cardKerikaGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCProfessional is $9 a Team Member a month in the US, or $90 a year, which sits above this category's $8 middle. Two things soften it: only Team Members are charged, with view-only Visitors free, and Kerika says nearly every other country pays less in local currency.
Free plan and trialBThe Individual plan is free for one person working alone, with unlimited Task Boards, Whiteboards and view-only Visitors. It has no Team Members at all, though, so the first person who edits with you needs a paid seat.
FeaturesCTask Boards with a workflow you set, subtasks assigned and scheduled separately, WIP limits, Whiteboards that nest inside each other, chat on the cards and a dashboard of what's due. That's the whole list: no timeline, no time tracking, no reports.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record. Signing up with a Google, Microsoft or Box ID you already have is quick, and there's a library of process templates, but the boards and the workflow on them are still yours to lay out.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, with no desktop app listed, which is what caps it here. Files sit in your own Google Drive, OneDrive or Box, and due dates sync to Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Kerika is for

  • Fits if you're a distributed team wanting simple task boards and whiteboards
  • Works for teams whose files already live in Google Drive, OneDrive or Box

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free with a partner, because the Individual plan has no Team Members
  • Skip it if you pay monthly and want a way out, as the 30-day money-back guarantee covers annual subscriptions only
  • Not for you if you want a desktop app, since Kerika runs in the browser and on phones
  • Too light for projects that need a timeline, time tracking or reports
  • Watch out: prices vary by country, and the US rate of $9 a Team Member sits above this category's $8 middle

Good to know

Good for

  • Distributed teams that want simple task boards and whiteboards
  • Teams that keep their files in Google Drive, OneDrive or Box
  • Schools and nonprofits, which get 50% off paid plans
  • Solo users: the Individual plan is free

Worth knowing

  • Prices vary by country. The pricing page shows local-currency rates by location; the US rates are $9 and $13 per Team Member a month.
  • No desktop app is listed; Kerika runs in the browser, with iOS and Android apps.
  • The 30-day money-back guarantee covers annual subscriptions only; monthly subscriptions are not refunded.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Kerika you could make: kanban boards, tasks and templates. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 38 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $90 a year.

What you could make

  • Kanban boards, tasks and templates: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • An endless canvas that stays smooth with hundreds of things on it.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Drive, Google Docs and Microsoft OneDrive among them.

What this rests on. Kerika’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
