Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 12 of the 51 other AI agents we grade

Kortix is an open-source platform for running a team of AI agents, which it calls an AI Management System. Agents, skills, memory, connector settings and triggers are files in one git repository, and each session runs on its own isolated Linux machine and lands its work as a change request for a person to review. It works with any model through your own API key, a ChatGPT subscription or Kortix's managed gateway, and can be used as a managed cloud or self-hosted with Docker Compose.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Kortix, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The configuration files are the product.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for engineering teams who want their agents in git

If git and diffs aren't how you work, look elsewhere.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $40 a month for each person

As its pricing page puts it: $40 per seat / month (Team).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

200 credits a month for sandbox compute and 1 project, with model access through your own API key or a connected ChatGPT subscription.

  4. 4

    It runs on 4 platforms

    Web, macOS, Windows and Linux.

  5. 5

    Company as code

Agents, skills, memory, connector settings and triggers are text files in one git repository, so any change can be searched, diffed and rolled back.

  6. 6

    A computer per session

Each session boots its own isolated Linux machine with your repo and tools already on it, and many sessions can run in parallel without affecting one another.

  7. 7

    Change requests and tool rules

Session work lands on the main branch as a change request you read as a diff first, and each tool call can be set to allow, ask or block.

  8. 8

    A 2.2 GPA, above 12 of 51

That is against the other AI agents we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Kortix you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for engineering teams who want their agents in git

Kortix runs a team of AI agents out of a git repository you own: agents, skills, memory and triggers are text files, each session gets its own Linux machine, and the work comes back as a diff for a person to approve. Team is $40 a seat, and Kortix adds 20% to managed model costs and 50% to most tool calls. Free stops at 1 project, SSO and audit logs need Enterprise, and the phone apps are still coming soon. If git and diffs aren't how you work, look elsewhere.

ToolGPA report cardKortixGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDTeam is $40 a seat each month, well above the $23 or so agent tools here start at, and then Kortix adds 20% to managed model costs and 50% to most tool calls, or a flat 10% if you bring your own key. Self-hosting is free, if you have someone to run it.
Free plan and trialCFree is 200 sandbox credits a month and 1 project, and you supply the model yourself through an API key or a ChatGPT subscription. One project is where you'll stop. Self-hosting the open-source stack costs nothing.
FeaturesAKeeping agents, skills, memory and triggers as text files in a git repo, with each session's work arriving as a diff you approve, is something no rival here offers. Around it: a fresh Linux machine per session, allow, ask or block on every tool call, 3,000-plus connectors, cron and signed webhooks.
Ease of useDThe configuration files are the product. Your agents live in a git repository, you read their work as diffs, sessions can start from a CLI, and you sort out model access yourself unless you use the managed gateway. No rating on record.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb plus Mac, Windows and Linux, with sessions startable from Slack, Microsoft Teams, a CLI or the API, and connectors covering 3,000-plus apps. iPhone, iPad and Android apps are listed as coming soon.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Kortix is for

  • Fits if your team wants its agent setup versioned in a git repository
  • Works for engineering-led teams that have to self-host or run everything in their own cloud

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you're a small team, at $40 a seat plus 20% on managed models and 50% on most tool calls
  • Not for you if git and diffs aren't your thing, because that's how you work with it
  • Tight if you're staying free, with 1 project and 200 sandbox credits a month, and your own model access
  • Skip it if you need SAML SSO, SCIM or audit logs without Enterprise; self-hosted instances need its license too
  • Watch out: phone apps are coming soon, and self-hosted setups still run sandboxes on an outside provider like Daytona

Good to know

Good for

  • Teams that want agent configuration versioned in a git repository
  • Organizations that need to self-host or deploy in their own cloud
  • Engineering-led teams comfortable reviewing agent work as diffs

Worth knowing

  • The Free plan is limited to 1 project and 200 sandbox credits a month, and you supply model access yourself.
  • Kortix marks up managed model costs by 20% and most tool calls by 50%; with your own API key it charges a flat 10% platform fee instead, waived on Free.
  • SAML SSO, SCIM, advanced RBAC and audit logs need Enterprise, and a self-hosted instance needs an Enterprise license to unlock them.
  • iPhone, iPad and Android apps are listed as coming soon, and self-hosted instances still run agent sandboxes on an outside provider such as Daytona.

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

12/51

Other AI agents it is graded above

Kortix's GPA of 2.2 is higher than 12 of the 51 other AI agents we grade, and level with 10.

It stands best on features (A, above 47 of 51) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Its paid plans start at $40 a month for each person, against a middle price of $21.25 for the category: 37 of the 44 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Kortix you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 29 of the 51 other AI agents grade higher. It costs $480 a year. Kortix is open source, so there is a third way: take its code and run it yourself.

What you could not

  • An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows and Linux that stay in step with each other.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Kortix’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
