Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.2

GPA, above 49 of the 51 other AI agents we grade

Manus is a general-purpose AI agent that takes a goal and works through it on its own, returning finished output such as research reports, slide decks, websites, images and video. It runs in the browser, in desktop apps for macOS and Windows, and on iOS and Android, and a Chrome extension lets it act inside your own logged-in browser tabs. Usage is metered in credits: the free plan has a daily allowance, and the paid Pro and Team plans add monthly credits.

To get you started, here are 10 things to know about Manus, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The part you'll have to learn is the credits.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for handing over a goal and getting finished work back

It all runs on credits: unused monthly credits are gone at the end of the cycle, and Free allows one task at a time on the Lite model only.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $20 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $20 per month, billed monthly (Pro with 4,000 credits).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

300 refresh credits a day, capped at 1,500 a month, with 1 concurrent task, 2 scheduled tasks, Chat Mode and only the Manus 2.0 Lite model in Agent Mode.

  4. 4

    It runs on 5 platforms

Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Agent Mode

Tasks run in a cloud virtual machine that handles file operations, browser automation and code execution. Credits are consumed only while a task is actively processing.

  6. 6

    Wide Research

Splits a large research job across many agents working in parallel and returns reports and datasets. The pricing page lists it among the paid Pro features.

  7. 7

    Slides, websites and web apps

Generates slide decks from a prompt and builds full-stack web apps with a built-in database, backend and login, which can be deployed and connected to a custom domain.

  8. 8

    Refunds: no set window

There is no money-back window here. Manus's terms say every payment for a subscription, credits or paid features is final and non-refundable, and that a partial refund is only ever considered in exceptional circumstances at the company's discretion.

  9. 9

    A 3.2 GPA, above 49 of 51

That is against the other AI agents we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  10. 10

    Keep it

To replace Manus you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for handing over a goal and getting finished work back

Manus is an agent you hand a whole job to, such as a research report, a slide deck or a small website, and it works through it in its own cloud computer. It all runs on credits: unused monthly credits are gone at the end of the cycle, and Free allows one task at a time on the Lite model only. Pro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 credits, the help center prices only two of its three tiers, and there's no Linux app.

ToolGPA report cardManusGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 credits, which is mid-table for this category, and $40 buys 8,000. Paying yearly takes 17% off. Unused monthly credits don't roll over, so a quiet month is money gone.
Free plan and trialCFree refreshes 300 credits a day, up to 1,500 a month, which sounds fine until the rest: one task at a time, 2 scheduled tasks, and only the Manus 2.0 Lite model does agent work. The $40 Pro tier has a 7-day trial.
FeaturesATwo things the other agents here don't offer: Wide Research splits one job across many agents at once, and Browser Operator works inside your own logged-in browser tabs. On top of that, tasks run in a cloud computer that browses, handles files and runs code, and it builds full-stack web apps with a login.
Ease of useA4.7 from about 38,700 App Store ratings. You type a goal and it gets on with it. The part you'll have to learn is the credits.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, with connectors for Gmail, Notion, Slack, Google Calendar and GitHub and a public API. No Linux app is listed.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Manus is for

  • Fits if you want to hand over a research job and get a finished report back
  • Works for teams that want one shared pot of credits and a view of who used what

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, with one task at a time, 2 scheduled tasks and only the Lite model for agent work
  • Skip it if metered plans annoy you, because unused monthly credits don't roll over
  • Not for you if you want a desktop app on Linux or an Intel Mac, as only Apple Silicon and Windows downloads are listed
  • Watch out: the pricing page lists a 40,000-credit Pro tier, but the help center states prices only for the first two
  • Pricey if you need SSO on a small team, at a flat $150 below 30 seats

Good to know

Good for

  • Handing off multi-step research and getting a finished report back
  • Producing slide decks, websites and simple web apps from a prompt
  • Teams that want pooled credits and usage analytics

Worth knowing

  • Usage is metered in credits, and unused monthly credits do not roll over to the next cycle.
  • Free accounts are limited to the Manus 2.0 Lite model in Agent Mode, 1 concurrent task and 1,500 daily-refresh credits a month.
  • The pricing page lists Pro tiers of 4,000, 8,000 and 40,000 credits a month; the help center states prices only for the first two.
  • The macOS desktop download is labeled for Apple Silicon, and no Linux app is listed.

Part 02 · Tips

Insider tips

What most people miss: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches

7

Things most people miss, each from its own help pages

The things about Manus that are easy to miss until they cost you: ways to pay less, settings worth changing and the catches at renewal or when you leave. Each one is from Manus’s own pages, linked beside it.

Read on Oct 17, 2026. Read from Manus's help centre (credits, cancelling, upgrades, refunds, Mail Manus, task privacy) and its Cloud Browser docs on 17 October 2026. Not tried out: these tips are what its own pages say.

  1. 1

    Renewal

Cancel the Pro trial before it charges, or that month is paid

Its help page on cancelling says a trial you cancel before the charge costs nothing. Cancel after the charge and there's no refund, it just won't renew. So if you're only having a look, put a reminder in for day six.

    help.manus.im
  2. 2

    Leaving

Extra credits you bought switch off when your paid plan does

Add-on credits carry over month to month, but only while you're paying. Drop to Free or let the plan lapse and they go inactive. They come back if you subscribe again. Monthly credits that already reset to zero don't.

    help.manus.im
  3. 3

    Pay less

Upgrading mid-month only costs you the days that are left

Its upgrade article does the sum: move from the $20 Pro to the $40 one halfway through a month on the web and you pay $10 and get 2,000 more credits. Downgrades wait until your next renewal. Make any change where you first paid, as it won't switch across platforms.

    help.manus.im
  4. 4

    Pay less

Ask for your credits back when a task breaks on Manus's side

Its refund policy gives back all the credits when a review finds a bug, a tool misfiring or a task that stopped with nothing delivered. It isn't automatic: you send a request with that task's link. A vague prompt or a result you didn't like doesn't count.

    help.manus.im
  5. 5

    Privacy

Log Manus out of the sites you signed in to in its browser

Sign in to an account inside its Cloud Browser and Manus can keep using that session in later tasks. Its docs put the list under Settings, Cloud Browser, Logged-in Accounts, where you can log out of one site or clear every session.

    manus.im
  6. 6

    Easy to miss

Forward an email to Manus and it turns into a task

Under Settings, Mail Manus, you approve up to 10 addresses you send from and get your own Manus address. Workflow Emails each carry standing instructions, say, turn whatever arrives into slides. Free accounts get 3 of those, paid plans 30.

    help.manus.im
  7. 7

    Privacy

On a Team plan, the owner can read every step of your tasks

Its help page says a Team Owner can see all members' session data, task steps and content included, and can export it. Admins see less. Personal tasks are private by default, so keep anything private in your own account.

49/51

Other AI agents it is graded above

Manus's GPA of 3.2 is higher than 49 of the 51 other AI agents we grade, and level with 2.

It stands best on ease of use (A, above 49 of 51) and worst on free plan and trial (C, above 9).

Its paid plans start at $20 a month, against a middle price of $21.25 for the category: 15 of the 44 others that charge start lower.

On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 4.0 out of 4. Nothing scores higher for less, though at least one tool matches that score at a lower price.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Manus you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 49 of the 51 other AI agents we grade. It costs $240 a year.

What you could not

  • An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
  • A library of papers and sources to search.
  • A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
  • A slide editor.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It plugs into other products, Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Manus’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.

Refunds and cancelling

CGrade

Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026

There is no money-back window here. Manus's terms say every payment for a subscription, credits or paid features is final and non-refundable, and that a partial refund is only ever considered in exceptional circumstances at the company's discretion. What saves it from worse is that you cancel yourself from the account page and keep the plan until the period you paid for runs out. Ordinary for subscription software, so a C.

Refund window
No set window
How you cancel
Yourself, in settings
Getting your money back

The terms say that except where the law requires it, all payments for subscriptions, credits and other paid features are final and non-refundable, because once access has been granted Manus treats its side as performed. It may consider a partial refund in exceptional circumstances at its sole discretion, worked out on unused credits and excluding discounts and tax, and reserves the right to refuse one.

Stated on manus.im
How to cancel Manus

A subscription bought through Stripe is cancelled inside Manus: open your profile avatar, go to Account, then Upgrade or Manage, and choose Downgrade to Free. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are cancelled in that store, and the help page notes that uninstalling the app does not cancel anything. The terms instead say you can cancel a renewal by emailing the company.

  1. Open Manus and click your profile avatar in the top right corner
  2. Click Account, then open Upgrade or Manage
  3. Click Downgrade to Free in the bottom right corner
  4. Follow the prompts to finish cancelling the current subscription
Stated on help.manus.im
What you keep afterwards

Manus says membership benefits, including access to credits, end as soon as the subscription ends, and that unused monthly credits are reset to zero at the end of the cycle and cannot be reinstated. Add-on and event credits become inactive once the account falls back to Free, though they can be reactivated if you subscribe again. A separate help article covers deleting the account itself.

Stated on help.manus.im
Renewals

The terms say a subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing cycle for a period of the same length, at the fee current at that time, unless you opt out. The cancellation help page adds that cancelling after a billing attempt only stops future renewals and that the amount already charged is not refunded. No reminder before a renewal is mentioned.

Stated on manus.im

In your favour

  • You cancel it yourself from the account page rather than having to email anyone.
  • The plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Cancel during the seven-day Pro trial, before the first charge, and nothing is taken.
  • Add-on and event credits come back to life if you subscribe again later.

Watch out for

  • No refund window at all: the terms call every payment final and non-refundable.
  • A partial refund is at Manus's sole discretion, and it reserves the right to refuse one.
  • Unused monthly credits are reset to zero when the subscription ends and cannot be reinstated.
  • Renewals are charged at the fee current then, with no reminder promised before the charge.

Customer support

CGrade

Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026

A large, well-organised help centre in fourteen languages, and a chat button on every page of it. What you do not get is any idea of the wait: no page states support hours, and none states a reply target. Manus's own refund article describes giving your details to an AI chatbot after which the team makes contact, which is a ticket by another name. That is where most tools sit, so a C.

Ways to get help

  • Live chat

The help centre's front page offers to start a chat with the support team. Manus's refund article describes the same route as giving your order number, account and reason to a Help Centre AI chatbot, after which the support team contacts you as soon as it can.

    Stated on help.manus.im
  • Help centre

What depends on your plan

The help centre's front page offers the same chat and the same option to schedule a call with a Manus expert to anyone who visits, without naming a plan. The pricing article sets out what Free, Pro and Team buy and mentions no difference in support between them.

Stated on help.manus.im

In your favour

  • The help centre is large and well sorted, with 28 articles on billing alone.
  • It reads in fourteen languages, not just English.
  • Anyone can start a chat or book a call with a Manus expert from the help centre's front page.
  • The billing articles answer cancelling, refunds and credits directly rather than burying them.

Watch out for

  • No page states support hours, for any plan.
  • No page states a reply target: the refund article says only that the team will contact you as soon as possible.
  • The chat starts with an AI chatbot that collects your details before a person is involved.
  • There is no published email route or ticket form outside that chat.

What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: Manus's terms of service, including its subscription, credit and refund policy sections, the help centre's billing collection and its articles on cancelling a subscription, requesting a membership refund, what happens to credits after cancelling, and current membership pricing, plus the help centre's front page. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted its support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
