Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 27 of the 51 other AI agents we grade

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, listed in app stores as Muse from Meta. You message it in the Muse app, on a Mac, on the web or in WhatsApp, and it carries out tasks on a dedicated cloud computer with its own browser: managing email and calendars, making bookings, shopping and tracking goals, with approval required before sensitive actions. It was introduced in September 2026, is rolling out in the US, and is free up to a usage limit with two paid plans above that.

To get you started, here are 10 things to know about Meta Muse, taken from its own pages and our grades.

You message it the way you'd message a person, in the app or in WhatsApp.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for errands you hand over by message

Four connections are on record, there's no API, and you need a Meta account.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $20 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $20 per month (Power).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Free with a usage limit. When you reach it you can wait for the limit to refresh or upgrade to a paid plan; Meta's help article does not give the size of the free allowance.

  4. 4

    It runs on 4 platforms

    Web, macOS, iOS and Android.

  5. 5

    Muse Secure VM

Each user gets a persistent, isolated Linux computer in the cloud with a full browser, shared with the agent, and can step in at any point while a task runs.

  6. 6

    Goals and background work

Given a goal, Muse builds an action plan, tracks progress and takes on tasks along the way. It keeps working after the app is closed and returns when it needs approval.

  7. 7

    Connectors and self-built tools

Connects to email, calendar, Instagram and other apps, with the level of access set by the user. If a task needs a tool that does not exist, Muse builds one.

  8. 8

    Refunds: no set window

Meta says it plainly: cancel and you get no credit and no partial refund unless the law says otherwise. You do keep the plan to the end of the month you paid for, and cancelling is four taps in the app or on the web, so nothing blocks the door.

  9. 9

    A 2.6 GPA, above 27 of 51

That is against the other AI agents we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  10. 10

    Keep it

To replace Meta Muse you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for errands you hand over by message

Muse is Meta's personal agent: you message it in its app or in WhatsApp, and it books, shops and chases goals on its own cloud computer, asking before it sends or buys. Meta says it's rolling out in the US and still in limited testing, the size of the free allowance isn't published, and the next plan after Power at $20 is Max at $100. Four connections are on record, there's no API, and you need a Meta account.

ToolGPA report cardMeta MuseGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPower is $20 a month for 500M Muse tokens a week, which is mid-table for agents here, and Max is $100 for 3B. Both renew every month until you cancel, and tokens are the only unit on offer, so there's no cheaper way in.
Free plan and trialCFree up to a usage limit that refreshes, and then you wait or you pay. Meta's help article doesn't say how big that allowance is, so you'll find the wall by walking into it.
FeaturesCA persistent cloud computer with a full browser you can step into, goals it keeps chasing after you close the app, approvals with an audit trail and checkout through Link with a one-time card number. For an agent meant to run your errands, though, four connections on record is a short list.
Ease of useA4.9 from about 155,000 App Store ratings, the top score on record in this category. You message it the way you'd message a person, in the app or in WhatsApp. You do need a Meta account to get in.
Platforms and integrationsBiPhone, Android, Mac and the web, plus WhatsApp. The other half is thinner: four connections on record, no API, the only desktop download is for Mac, and Meta says it isn't available everywhere yet.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Meta Muse is for

  • Fits if you want to hand off bookings, shopping and price tracking by message
  • Works for people who live in WhatsApp and don't want one more app to check

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you're outside the US, as Meta says it's rolling out there and still in limited testing
  • Not for you if you want a desktop app on Windows, because the only download is for Mac, and the iOS app is iPhone only
  • Pricey if you outgrow Power, as the next plan up is $100 a month
  • Tight if you're staying free, because Meta doesn't publish how big the free allowance is
  • Watch out: you need a Meta account, and there are four connections on record and no API

Good to know

Good for

  • Personal errands such as bookings, shopping and price tracking
  • People who want to message an agent from WhatsApp
  • Long-running goals that need follow-up without checking in

Worth knowing

  • Meta says Muse is rolling out in the US, and that Muse and its subscriptions are in limited testing and not available in all locations.
  • The size of the free allowance is not published in the help article; Power and Max are capped at 500M and 3B Muse tokens a week.
  • A Meta account is required, and subscribers must be 18 or the age of majority in their country.
  • The App Store lists the iOS app as iPhone only, requiring iOS 18 or later; the only desktop download offered is for macOS.

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

27/51

Other AI agents it is graded above

Meta Muse's GPA of 2.6 is higher than 27 of the 51 other AI agents we grade, and level with 12.

It stands best on ease of use (A, above 49 of 51) and worst on features (C, above 0).

Its paid plans start at $20 a month, against a middle price of $21.25 for the category: 15 of the 44 others that charge start lower.

On features, ease of use and platforms it scores 3.0 out of 4. 2 tools score higher and cost less.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Meta Muse you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It costs $240 a year.

What you could make

  • Goals: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
  • An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
  • A library of papers and sources to search.
  • Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.

What this rests on. Meta Muse’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.

Refunds and cancelling

CGrade

Ordinary · checked Oct 18, 2026

Meta says it plainly: cancel and you get no credit and no partial refund unless the law says otherwise. You do keep the plan to the end of the month you paid for, and cancelling is four taps in the app or on the web, so nothing blocks the door. Leave at least 24 hours before the payment date, though, or Meta says the next month may still be charged. No refunds with an easy exit is the ordinary deal, and a C.

Refund window
No set window
How you cancel
Yourself, in settings
Getting your money back

The help article on cancelling says Meta does not provide credits or partial refunds for a cancelled Muse subscription unless required by law, and repeats it under what happens afterwards. Where the subscription was bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Meta says that store's own process applies. The Muse terms say refund rights are governed by the Meta Subscription Terms of Service.

Stated on meta.com
How to cancel Meta Muse

You cancel inside Muse: open Settings from the menu, tap Manage subscription under your usage, then Cancel and confirm. It has to be done on the same platform, device type and account you subscribed on, and a subscription bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play is cancelled in that store instead. Meta notes that signing out or deleting the app does not cancel anything.

  1. Open muse.ai in a browser and log in, or open the Muse mobile app
  2. Click Menu at the bottom left, then Settings (on mobile, Menu at the top left)
  3. Below Usage, click Manage subscription
  4. Click Cancel
  5. Click Yes, cancel to confirm
  6. Check for the notification confirming the subscription is cancelled
Stated on meta.com
What you keep afterwards

The subscription stays active to the end of the current billing cycle and you keep every benefit until then. At the end of the cycle all subscription benefits stop, which on Muse means dropping back to the free usage allowance. Meta says nothing on these pages about the account or the conversations in it, and you can subscribe again at any time.

Stated on meta.com
Renewals

A Muse subscription renews automatically every month unless it is cancelled, charged on the same date each month as the original purchase, or on the last day in a shorter month. The billing pages mention no reminder before a renewal. The troubleshooting article adds that a cancellation has to be made at least 24 hours before the next payment date to avoid being charged for another cycle.

Stated on meta.com

In your favour

  • Cancelling is a handful of taps in Muse itself, with nobody to write to.
  • You keep the full usage allowance to the end of the month you have paid for.
  • Meta is clear in advance that there are no partial refunds, rather than leaving you to find out.
  • Muse is free up to a usage limit, so you can stop paying without losing the app.

Watch out for

  • No credits and no partial refunds, unless the law where you live requires one.
  • Cancel less than 24 hours before the payment date and Meta says the next month may still be charged.
  • It renews every month by itself, and no page promises a reminder.
  • You must cancel on the same platform, device type and account you bought it on, or you will not see it.

Customer support

DGrade

Weak · checked Oct 18, 2026

There is no way to reach a person about Muse. The help centre is decent, with a hub for the app and another for subscriptions, and Meta puts an AI support assistant on the front of it. But no page gives an address, a chat with a human or a ticket queue, and when the billing article runs out of ideas about a charge it tells you to contact your bank. Paying customers with no route to a person is a D.

Ways to get help

  • Contact form or ticket

The Muse terms say that to report a safety, security, compliance or operational concern you submit a form under Help and Support. The terms describe it as a reporting route and no page read offers it for billing or account questions.

    Stated on muse.ai
  • Help centre

Two written hubs: a Muse Help Centre covering connectors, web browsing, privacy, skills, reminders and files, and a Muse subscriptions section covering plans, billing, cancelling and revoked subscriptions. The Meta Help Centre home offers an AI support assistant above them rather than a person.

    Stated on meta.com

Not listed on Meta Muse’s pages: live chat, phone.

When people answer

Its pages do not say.

How fast it says it replies

Its pages do not say.

What depends on your plan

Nothing on the pages read gives paying Muse subscribers any support that free users do not have. The subscription pages describe plan differences only as weekly usage allowances, and no faster queue, named contact or service level is mentioned on either plan.

Stated on meta.com

In your favour

  • The help centre is detailed and free to read, with separate hubs for the app and for subscriptions.
  • The cancelling and billing articles are specific, including the 24-hour cut-off before a payment date.

Watch out for

  • No email address, no ticket queue and no human chat is given for Muse anywhere we looked.
  • For a charge you cannot explain, Meta's own article sends you to your bank.
  • The assistant on the help centre is an AI, and no page says it can pass you to a person.
  • Paying for the larger plan buys more usage, not better support.

What these two grades rest on. Read on 18 October 2026: Meta's help articles on Muse subscriptions, subscribing to Muse, managing and cancelling a Muse subscription, billing and payments for subscriptions from Meta and troubleshooting payment issues, plus the Muse Help Centre, the Muse terms of service and the app's App Store listing. Nobody here cancelled a plan or contacted Meta's support. They are graded apart from the five that make the GPA. How we grade refunds and support.
