Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.0
GPA, above 4 of the 147 other note-taking apps we grade
MyInfo is a Windows organizer from Milenix Software for collecting notes, links, files, web snippets and to-dos in notebooks. Notes can be arranged in a tree or a sortable list, given tags and attributes, linked wiki-style and searched across notebooks. Data is stored only on your own computer and the app works fully offline; it is sold as a one-time purchase with an optional yearly update plan.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about MyInfo, taken from its own pages and our grades.
There's a lot of it: perspectives, attributes, conditional formatting and columns all want working out.

The report card
Best for a personal wiki that stays on your Windows PC
MyInfo is a Windows organizer for notes, files, web clippings and to-dos, in notebooks sorted as a tree or a list, with search that reads inside attached PDFs. Everything stays on your computer, and that's also the limit: it's Windows only, with no cloud, sync or phone app. It costs $99 up front with one year of updates, then $49 a year for more, and there's a lot to learn.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | $99 once, plus tax, with a year of updates. Notes apps here run about $6 a month in the middle, so that's roughly 16 months of one, and the license is yours to keep. Updates after the first year are an optional $49 a year, and the last version you got carries on working. |
| Free plan and trial | C | No free plan. There's a fully featured 30-day trial, and when it ends you can still view and export your notes but not edit them, so nothing gets trapped. Nothing in the listing says it asks for a card. |
| Features | C | Trees or sortable lists, tags and attributes as columns, wiki-style links, a rich text editor, a web clipper, boolean search that reads inside attached PDFs and Office files, website publishing and encrypted notebooks. The gap is the obvious one: the maker runs no cloud service, so there's no sync at all. |
| Ease of use | C | There's a lot of it: perspectives, attributes, conditional formatting and columns all want working out. It installs like any Windows program and runs offline, at least. No store rating is on record to go by. |
| Platforms and integrations | D | Windows only, on Windows 7 or newer. The one thing outside it is a clipper extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and other Chromium browsers. No Mac, phone or web version, and no cloud service behind it. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who MyInfo is for
- Fits if you're building a big personal knowledge base and want it offline on your own PC
- Works for filing PDFs and Office documents you need to search inside, or for moving off TreePad
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you use a Mac or want notes on your phone, as it's Windows only
- Not for you if you want sync taken care of, because notebooks live only on your own computer
- Pricey if you want every update for years, at $49 a year on top of the $99 after the first year
- Watch out: there's no free plan, and after the 30-day trial notes can be viewed and exported but not edited
- Watch out: a business needs a separate license for each device
Good to know
Good for
- Windows users building a personal wiki or knowledge base offline
- Researchers and writers who outline and file large sets of notes
- People moving from TreePad, whose files MyInfo imports
Worth knowing
- Windows only (Windows 7 or newer); the web clipper extension needs Chrome, Firefox, Edge or another Chromium-based browser.
- Notebooks are stored only on your own computer, and the maker runs no cloud service for them.
- The $99 purchase includes one year of updates; further updates cost $49 per year, although the last version received keeps working.
- A business needs a separate license for each device, while an individual may install it on every computer they own.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
A notes app at its plainest is text in folders with a search box.
You could make the core of MyInfo for yourself: notes, web clipper, linked notes and wiki. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.
What you could make
- Notes, web clipper, linked notes and wiki: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for Windows. Something home-made would be a web page.
What this rests on. MyInfo’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
