Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 35 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade

MyStudyLife is a planner built around the academic year. Students enter their class timetable, including rotating and block schedules, then track homework, exams and grades against it, with reminders before classes and deadlines. The core planner is free on the web, iPhone and Android. The MSL+ subscription lifts the cap on tasks and adds unlimited use of Scout, the built-in AI study coach, and a separate Family Connect plan gives parents a linked view.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about MyStudyLife, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, and there's a term's worth of setting up first: classes, rotation pattern, term and holiday dates.

  6. 6

    Homework and task tracking

Tasks carry a due date and a reminder, and progress can be logged as partly complete. Subtasks, repeating tasks and the full set of task types are MSL+ features.

The report card

Best for students with a rotating or block timetable

MyStudyLife is a student planner built around the school timetable, rotating weeks and all, with homework, exams and grades tracked against it. The timetable side is free on web, iPhone and Android. But the free plan holds only 5 tasks at a time. Subtasks, repeats and Calendar Sync need MSL+ at $39.99 a year, and there's no Mac or Windows app.

ToolGPA report cardMyStudyLifeGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyBMSL+ is $39.99 a year, about $3.33 a month, which lands in the cheaper quarter of this category where the middle is $5.99. Monthly is $6.99. Those are US App Store prices, and the listing there says they may vary by region.
Free plan and trialCThe timetable, calendar, exams with countdowns, subjects and reminders are free with no time limit. But 5 tasks at a time is a cap any student hits in a week, and Scout stops after one timetable scan and a few chats.
FeaturesBIt covers the student job: weekly, rotating, A/B and block timetables that pause for holidays, homework with reminders and part-done progress, exams with room and seat, grades, a Pomodoro timer, and an AI coach that builds your timetable from a photo and drafts revision plans.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and there's a term's worth of setting up first: classes, rotation pattern, term and holiday dates. Scout can build the timetable from a photo, but the free plan gets one scan.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with Google, Apple and Outlook calendars plus Canvas and Blackboard. No separate Mac or Windows app, no API on record, and Calendar Sync is an MSL+ feature, so free accounts connect to nothing.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who MyStudyLife is for

  • Fits if your school runs a rotating, A/B or block timetable
  • Works for students who want homework, exams and grades in one app

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free, because it holds only 5 tasks at a time and Scout stops after one scan
  • Watch out: subtasks, repeating tasks, Calendar Sync and Activities all need MSL+ at $6.99 a month or $39.99 a year
  • Skip it if you want a Mac or Windows app, as there's only web, iPhone and Android
  • Pricey if you're a parent of several, with Family Connect at $19.99 a month for 3 to 5 students
  • Watch out: the prices come from the US App Store and may vary by region, and MyStudyLife's own MSL+ page lists none

Good to know

Good for

  • School and university students with rotating or block timetables
  • Keeping homework, exams and grades in one place
  • Parents who want to follow a child's deadlines

Worth knowing

  • Prices are from the US App Store description, which says they may vary by region. The vendor's MSL+ page lists no price.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of MyStudyLife you could make: tasks, calendar and Pomodoro timer. What surrounds it you could not. The 5 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It costs $39.99 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, calendar and Pomodoro timer: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • People on the other end: coaches. No app builder makes those.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. MyStudyLife’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
