Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 6 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Planndu is a task planner app for iPhone, iPad and Android that keeps tasks and notes on the device, with no account or login. Tasks carry a priority, a status and a color, are reordered by drag and drop, and can start from ready-made templates such as a grocery list or a morning routine. The basic features are free; a Premium subscription, billed monthly or yearly through the app stores, adds repeating reminders, task groups, sharing over a local network, import and export, and all templates.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Planndu, taken from its own pages and our grades.

There's no sign-up or account, so you open it and add a task, and templates fill in lists such as a morning routine or a packing list.

The report card

Best for an offline phone planner with no account

Planndu is a task planner for iPhone, iPad and Android that keeps everything on the device, with no account or login, and tasks take a priority, a status and a color. But there's no cloud sync, deleting the app deletes your tasks unless you exported them, and repeating reminders and task groups need Premium at $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Skip it if you want your list on a computer.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyC$3.99 a month is exactly this category's middle price, and the year is $29.99, about $2.50 a month. What that buys is thin, mostly task groups, repeating reminders and CSV import and export, and cloud sync isn't on the menu at any price.
Free plan and trialCUnlimited tasks and notes with priorities, statuses, colours and reminders, and no account needed. But repeating reminders and task groups are Premium, and you're left with 3 templates and 1 colour theme, so the walls come quickly.
FeaturesCThe basics, with the gaps the listing admits. Tasks take a priority from Urgent to Low and a status like To Do or In Progress, and drag between groups like cards. But there's no cloud sync, sharing only reaches devices on the same network, and deleting the app takes the data with it.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record. There's no sign-up or account, so you open it and add a task, and templates fill in lists such as a morning routine or a packing list.
Platforms and integrationsCPhones only, iPhone, iPad and Android, with Google Calendar the single integration on record. The site says a Linux and Mac desktop version is in the works, which means it isn't here yet.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Planndu is for

  • Fits if you want a planner with no account and nothing stored in the cloud
  • Works for sorting tasks by priority and status on a single phone or tablet

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want one list on two devices away from home, as there's no cloud sync at all
  • Watch out: deleting the app deletes your tasks unless you exported them, and export is Premium
  • Tight if you're staying free: repeating reminders, task groups, sharing, extra themes and all but 3 templates need Premium
  • Not for you if you want it on a computer, since the Mac and Linux version is only described as in the works
  • Watch out: Google Play lists in-app prices from $2.49 to $29.99, so Android may not charge the site's $3.99

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want a planner with no account and no cloud storage
  • Working through tasks by priority and status on a phone
  • Starting recurring routines and lists from templates

Worth knowing

  • Repeating reminders, task groups, local sharing, import and export, extra themes and all but 3 templates need Premium.
  • There is no cloud sync: sharing works only between devices on the same network, and deleting the app removes its data unless it was exported.
  • It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android only. The site says a desktop version for Linux and Mac is in the works.
  • Google Play shows in-app purchases from $2.49 to $29.99 per item, so the monthly price on Android may differ from the $3.99 listed on the site.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Planndu for yourself: tasks, notes and templates. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $29.99 a year it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Tasks, notes and templates: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.

What this rests on. Planndu’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
