Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 17 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade

PlanWiz is a digital planner app built around ready-made templates. Users pick a daily, weekly or monthly layout, a to-do list, a habit tracker, a journal or a mood tracker, then change its fonts, colors, covers and sections. Planners sync across iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac and can be exported as PDF or PNG. There is a free tier, and a paid upgrade unlocks the full template library.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about PlanWiz, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: no accounts to connect, you just pick a finished template and plan on it.

The report card

Best for ready-made planner pages you can restyle

PlanWiz is a planner built from templates: pick a daily, weekly or monthly layout, then change the fonts, colors and covers, with habits, a journal and a mood log in the same app. The website shows no prices. On the store the year is $39.99 but weekly billing is $3.99 a week, two prices don't say what they buy, and it lists no integrations, so your calendar never reaches it.

ToolGPA report cardPlanWizGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCThe year is $39.99, about $3.33 a month, in the cheaper quarter of this category. The week is $3.99, which works out near $17 a month, the very top end. And two of its four prices say nothing about what they buy: a $19.99 yearly offer with no terms and a $99.99 one-time pack with no contents.
Free plan and trialCA free tier with no card and no countdown: core planning, the customising and some of the templates. How many is "some"? PlanWiz doesn't say, and the full library and the advanced features are paid.
FeaturesCInside the app: over 1,000 templates, daily, weekly and monthly layouts, a to-do list with reminders, a habit tracker with streaks, a journal, a mood log and PDF or PNG export. The gap is on the listing: it names no integrations at all, so your calendar never reaches it.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: no accounts to connect, you just pick a finished template and plan on it. On an iPad you can write by hand with Apple Pencil.
Platforms and integrationsBiPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, with sync between them. But no web and no Windows, the Mac app needs macOS 12 and an M1 chip or later, and the listing names no integrations whatsoever.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who PlanWiz is for

  • Fits if you'd rather start from a finished layout than a blank page
  • Works for keeping a planner, habit tracker and journal in one app

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you plan on Windows, the web or an Intel Mac, as the Mac app needs an M1 chip or later
  • Pricey if you pick weekly billing, at $3.99 a week against $39.99 for the year
  • Not for you if you want your calendar in your planner, since PlanWiz lists no integrations
  • Watch out: the website shows no prices, and the $19.99 offer and $99.99 pack on the store don't say what they include
  • Tight if you're staying free, as only some templates are free and the vendor doesn't say how many

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want a pre-built planner layout instead of a blank page
  • iPad users who like to plan by hand with Apple Pencil
  • Keeping a planner, habit tracker and journal in a single app

Worth knowing

  • The website publishes no prices. Paid options appear only as in-app purchases in the app stores.
  • The free tier covers part of the template library; the full library and advanced features need the paid upgrade.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A daily planner at its plainest is today's tasks laid along a timeline.

You could make the core of PlanWiz for yourself: templates, tasks, habit tracking, daily notes, mood tracking and goals. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $39.99 a year.

What you could make

  • Templates, tasks, habit tracking, daily notes, mood tracking and goals: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • Hooks into the device itself: Apple Pencil.

What this rests on. PlanWiz’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
