Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.2

GPA, above 64 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade

Power Planner is a homework planner for high school and college students. It tracks assignments and exams against a class schedule, sends reminders before things are due, and calculates weighted grades and GPA across semesters. An optional online account syncs the planner between Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and a web version in beta. The app is free without ads, and a one-time Premium purchase lifts the limits on semesters and on grades per class.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Power Planner, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The day-before and day-of reminders are switched on from the start, so it nudges you with no setup at all.

The report card

Best for students who want homework and grades together

Power Planner is a homework planner that also works out your grades and GPA, on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and the web. It's free for one semester, and $4.99 once lifts the limits. But it pulls nothing in from Canvas or Blackboard, handles no custom rotations beyond Week A and B, connects only to Google Calendar, and the web version is still a beta.

ToolGPA report cardPower PlannerGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyAPremium is $4.99, once, for life, and buying it on one device unlocks it everywhere through your account. A year of this category's middle subscription is about $72, so this costs under a tenth of that.
Free plan and trialCFree with no ads, and sync, reminders and widgets are all in. But it holds 1 semester and 5 grades per class, so the second term is where it stops and Premium begins.
FeaturesBIt covers the student job: assignments and exams with checklists, a weekly class schedule with Week A and Week B, weighted grades, GPA across semesters and a What If? mode for a future score. The gaps are on its own pages: no Canvas or Blackboard, and no fully custom rotations.
Ease of useA4.82 from about 1,700 App Store ratings, over our bar for an A. The day-before and day-of reminders are switched on from the start, so it nudges you with no setup at all.
Platforms and integrationsBWindows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and the web, kept in step by a free account, which is the full spread of devices. But Google Calendar is the only thing it connects to, there's no API on record, and the web version is still labelled a beta.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Power Planner is for

  • Fits if you want grades and GPA worked out next to your homework list
  • Works for students who'd rather pay $4.99 once than subscribe

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if your school runs on Canvas or Blackboard and you want work pulled in for you
  • Not for you if your timetable is a custom rotation, as only standard and Week A and B schedules work
  • Tight if you're staying free past your first term, since the free version holds 1 semester and 5 grades per class
  • Watch out: the web version is labeled a beta, and Google Calendar is the only thing it connects to

Good to know

Good for

  • Students who want grades and GPA worked out next to their homework list
  • Students who switch between a Windows or Mac computer and a phone
  • Anyone who would rather pay once than subscribe to a school planner

Worth knowing

  • The free version is limited to 1 semester and 5 grades per class, so tracking a second term needs the $4.99 Premium purchase.
  • The vendor's own comparison page says there is no Canvas or Blackboard integration.
  • Class schedules can be standard or alternate between Week A and Week B. The vendor says fully custom rotations are not supported.
  • The web version is labelled a beta on the vendor's platforms page.

Ways to pay less

  • Lifetime license

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Power Planner you could make: tasks and calendar. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 64 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade. It costs $4.99, paid once.

What you could make

  • Tasks and calendar: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Power Planner’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
