What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 6 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Priorities is a to-do app for iPhone and iPad from Hand Carved Code. Tasks live on color-coded pages that hold lists with sub-items and tasks with sub-tasks, and starred items are gathered on a single Priorities page. A sync account backs data up, shares pages with other people and opens the same lists in a browser at my-priorities.com. The app is sold as a $4.99 App Store purchase.

To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Priorities, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The report card

Best for a pay-once list app for iPhone and iPad

Priorities is a to-do app for iPhone and iPad that costs $4.99 once, with lists on color-coded pages and starred tasks gathered on one page. There's no free version or trial, no Android, Windows or native Mac app, Apple Calendar is the only integration, and the web view needs a sync account made inside the iOS app. Skip it if you're not on an iPhone or iPad.

ToolGPA report cardPrioritiesGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyA$4.99 once, with Family Sharing and no in-app purchases, against about $48 for a year on this category's middle subscription. The Priorities Online web app is described as free on top of that.
Free plan and trialFNothing is free. No free version, no trial, so the $4.99 comes before you've seen a single screen. A small bet, but still a bet taken blind.
FeaturesCIt does a list app's job fully: colour-coded pages holding lists and sub-tasks, repeats as fussy as the third Sunday of the month, reminders, starred items, templates and shared pages. That's a smaller job than this category's, and creating tasks by email is marked deprecated since 2020.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but nothing needs setting up: one Add button takes a task or a whole list, with the due date, alert and notes on the same screen. Pages are reviewed with a tap or a swipe.
Platforms and integrationsCiPhone and iPad, with a browser view at my-priorities.com that needs a sync account made inside the iOS app. No Android, no Windows, and the Mac option is the iPad app, not verified for macOS. Apple Calendar is the only integration.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Priorities is for

  • Fits if you're on an iPhone or iPad and would rather pay $4.99 once than subscribe
  • Works for shopping or chore lists you share, and lists you reuse from a saved template

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you want to try before you buy, as there's no free version or trial
  • Skip it if you use Android or Windows, as the only apps are for iPhone and iPad
  • Watch out: on a Mac it runs as the iPad app, which the App Store marks as not verified for macOS
  • Watch out: the web view needs a Priorities Cloud account, and you can only make one inside the iOS app
  • Too light for linking to other apps: Apple Calendar is the only integration, and adding tasks by email was deprecated in 2020

Good to know

Good for

  • iPhone and iPad users who prefer to pay once for a to-do app
  • Sharing a shopping or chore list with another person
  • Reusing the same list as a template, such as for travel

Worth knowing

  • No Android, Windows or native Mac app: the App Store lists iPhone and iPad, and marks the Mac option as the iPad app, not verified for macOS.
  • There is no free version or trial; the app is a $4.99 purchase.
  • Priorities Online needs a Priorities Cloud sync account, which the support page says is created inside the iOS app.
  • The support page marks creating tasks by email as deprecated, with an end date of 12/31/2020.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Priorities for yourself: tasks and templates. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $4.99, paid once, it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Tasks and templates: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.

What this rests on. Priorities’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
