Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 30 of the 65 other focus apps we grade
RoundPie is a Pomodoro-style timer that sits on top of an existing task manager: you connect a service such as Todoist, Trello or Asana and run timed work sessions against the tasks already there. It logs the time spent on each task, and it comes as desktop, mobile and web apps plus a browser extension. A free Starter plan covers two integrations, and paid plans add more integrations and a longer log history.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about RoundPie, taken from its own pages and our grades.
There's a Local list for tasks of its own, but managing local projects is a paid feature.
- 1

The report card
Best for timing work against tasks in the tool you already use
RoundPie is a Pomodoro timer that sits on top of your task manager: connect Todoist, Trello or Asana and time work against the tasks already there. Paid plans start at €2 a month billed yearly, before VAT. Free stops at 2 integrations, 5 projects and 1 month of history, Jira and Asana need Ultimate, and two integrations are unstable beta.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Lite is €2 a month billed annually (€24) and Ultimate €3.50 (€42), both before VAT, which puts the entry plan inside the lowest-priced quarter of this category. Paying month by month is €4 and €6. Students in the GitHub Student Developer Pack get Lite free. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Starter costs nothing and the walls are close: 2 integrations from a short list, 5 projects in total, 1 month of log access and default tags only. Any premium plan can be tried free for a week with no card. |
| Features | C | Timed sessions against tasks from your own tool, finished tasks synced back, time logged per task, and a browser extension that blocks sites while the timer runs. Gaps the listing admits: Jira, Asana and Basecamp need Ultimate, the Safari extension is marked back soon, and two integrations are unstable beta. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record, and it can't do anything until you've connected a task service and picked which projects, boards or lists to sync. There's a Local list for tasks of its own, but managing local projects is a paid feature. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android, web and a browser extension, connecting to Todoist, Trello, Asana, Jira, Evernote, Google Calendar, Microsoft To Do and Slack. One gap: the Safari extension is marked back soon. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who RoundPie is for
- Fits if your tasks already live in Todoist, Trello or another supported tool
- Works for people who want time logged per task without a separate time tracker
Who it is not for
- Tight if you're staying free, with 2 integrations, 5 projects and 1 month of log access
- Not for you if you use Jira, Asana or Basecamp and wanted the lowest-priced plan, as those need Ultimate
- Skip it if you only want a plain timer, since the whole idea is tying it to a task tool
- Watch out: prices are in euros before VAT, and paying monthly is €4 for Lite and €6 for Ultimate
- Watch out: the Safari extension is marked back soon, and Toodledo and Pivotal Tracker are unstable beta
Good to know
Good for
- People who already keep tasks in Todoist, Trello or another supported tool
- Tracking time per task without running a separate time tracker
- Working across desktop, phone and browser
- Students, who get the Lite plan free through the GitHub Student Developer Pack
Worth knowing
- The free Starter plan is limited to 2 integrations from a short list, 5 projects and 1 month of log access.
- Integrations with Jira, Asana, Basecamp, ClickUp, Teamwork and similar tools need the Ultimate plan.
- Prices are listed in euros and exclude VAT; the pricing page's currency selector converts them for display.
- The download page marks the Safari extension as back soon, and the Toodledo and Pivotal Tracker integrations are labelled unstable beta.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of RoundPie you could make: Pomodoro timer, time tracking and tasks. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
It costs $26.89 a year.
What you could make
- Pomodoro timer, time tracking and tasks: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Blocking that reaches every browser and app and is hard to switch off.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Todoist, Trello and Asana among them.
What this rests on. RoundPie’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
