Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 12 of the 51 other AI agents we grade

Runbear is a platform for building AI agents and placing them where a team already talks: Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and, on higher plans, HubSpot and Zendesk. Each agent is defined by its instructions, knowledge synced from sources such as Notion and Google Drive, and tools reached over MCP, and it can also run on a schedule, a webhook or an app event. A separate Inbox Agent drafts replies and meeting briefs for each member to review. Pricing is by credits, not seats.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Runbear, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, and this isn't something you install and use.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for shared agents inside Slack or Microsoft Teams

Runbear puts shared agents where your team already talks: build an @Support or @HR agent, feed it your Notion and Google Drive, and anyone can ask it in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $99 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $99 per month, billed monthly (Team; 20% less billed yearly).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

New organizations start on a Free plan for Slack and Microsoft Teams with a limited credit allowance, the size of which is not published. Agents pause when it runs out.

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

    Web.

  5. 5

    Named agents in team chat

Agents such as @Support or @HR answer mentions and direct messages in Slack, Microsoft Teams and Discord. They are shared by the team, with per-user authentication.

  6. 6

    Knowledge sources

An agent's answers can be grounded in documents synced from Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, Slack, SharePoint and public websites, or in files uploaded directly.

  7. 7

    Tools over MCP

Agents act and read live data through managed MCP servers covering 2,000+ tools, or through your own MCP server. Tool approvals can require review before an agent uses a tool.

  8. 8

    A 2.2 GPA, above 12 of 51

That is against the other AI agents we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Runbear you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for shared agents inside Slack or Microsoft Teams

Runbear puts shared agents where your team already talks: build an @Support or @HR agent, feed it your Notion and Google Drive, and anyone can ask it in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord. It charges by credits rather than seats, but the first paid plan is $99 a month, credits don't roll over, and the free plan's allowance isn't published. HubSpot, Zendesk, SAML SSO and your own model key need Business at $399, so one or two people should look elsewhere.

ToolGPA report cardRunbearGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDTeam is $99 a month for 20,000 credits and 5 builders. Agent tools here sit at $21.25 a month in the middle, and the dearest tenth begins at $50, so Runbear is well past that line. Credits don't roll over, and HubSpot and Zendesk need the $399 Business plan. Yearly billing takes 20% off, which doesn't move it much.
Free plan and trialCNew organizations start on a Free plan for Slack and Microsoft Teams, so you can get an agent running without a card. The catch is that the credit allowance isn't published and agents simply pause when it's gone, so this is a cap you'll hit without knowing when.
FeaturesBIt covers the whole job: agents with instructions, knowledge synced from Notion, Confluence and Google Drive, actions through MCP servers covering 2,000+ tools with approvals, and triggers on a schedule, a webhook or an app event. The Inbox Agent drafts replies too. Nothing here the rivals don't also do, so no A.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and this isn't something you install and use. You connect Slack, sync document sources, write the agent's instructions and pick its tools before anyone gets an answer. Once it's built, asking it something is an @mention.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only for the building, with no desktop or phone app of its own. It connects to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Notion, Google Drive, Confluence, and HubSpot and Zendesk on Business, with a REST API and an embeddable chat widget.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Runbear is for

  • Fits if your team wants shared agents inside Slack or Microsoft Teams
  • Works for companies big enough that one credit pool costs less than paying per seat

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you're one or two people, since paid plans start at $99 a month
  • Skip it if you want agents in HubSpot or Zendesk on a budget, as those channels need Business at $399
  • Not for you if you want an app of its own, because it lives in Slack, Teams and Discord
  • Tight if you're staying free, as the credit allowance isn't published and agents pause when it runs out
  • Watch out: credits don't roll over, overage is billed per credit, and SCIM and a HIPAA BAA need Enterprise

Good to know

Good for

  • Teams that want shared agents inside Slack or Microsoft Teams
  • Support, sales and HR questions answered from company documents
  • Companies that prefer usage-based pricing to per-seat fees

Worth knowing

  • Runbear runs inside Slack, Teams and Discord and is set up in a web dashboard; it has no desktop or mobile app of its own.
  • Plan credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. Paid plans can allow overage, billed per credit.
  • HubSpot and Zendesk channels, bring-your-own key and SAML SSO need Business; SCIM and a HIPAA BAA need Enterprise.
  • Team includes 5 builders and Business 10. The Free plan's credit allowance is not published.

It stands best on features (B, above 27 of 51) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Runbear you would be making an AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 29 of the 51 other AI agents grade higher. It costs $1,188 a year.

What you could not

  • An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • A builder that other people can use without writing code.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Runbear’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
