Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 5 of the 9 other HR software we grade

Sesame HR is an HR platform from Spain built around time and attendance: clock-ins, time off, shifts and task tracking, with recruitment, internal communication, surveys and performance reviews in higher plans. Every plan includes Core, with documents, an org chart, onboarding, contracts and e-signatures. Each module comes in a Business or an Enterprise tier, and prices are per active employee with a 15-employee minimum.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Sesame HR, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No App Store rating on record, and setting up shifts, clock-in rules and overtime takes time.

The report card

Best for teams that must record working hours

Sesame HR is built around clocking in: time tracking, time off and shift planning on even the cheapest plan, with documents, onboarding and e-signatures on every one. It's a good fit where hours have to be on record. But there's a 15-employee minimum, so smaller teams pay for staff they don't have.

ToolGPA report cardSesame HRGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCEssential is $3.75 an employee a month on yearly billing, but with a 15-employee minimum, a ten-person company pays at least $56.25 a month, for time tracking, time off and shifts. That's under this category's middle, and smaller firms are sent to sales.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan, but a 14-day trial with no commitment.
FeaturesBClock-ins with overtime and remote work, time off, shifts, documents, onboarding, contracts and e-signatures on every plan, then recruiting, surveys and reviews higher up. The whole job, with a lean towards time tracking.
Ease of useCNo App Store rating on record, and setting up shifts, clock-in rules and overtime takes time.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with an API on Scale or a custom plan. No integrations are on record, and there's no desktop app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Sesame HR is for

  • Great if you have to keep a record of everyone's working hours
  • Handy when your team works rotating shifts
  • Good for employers in Spain, Latin America or elsewhere in Europe

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you have fewer than 15 staff, as you pay for 15 anyway
  • Pricey if you need the API or single sign-on, which start on Scale at $7 a head
  • Skip it if you'd pay monthly on Essential, as it's $5.25 there against $5.00 on Connect

Good to know

Good for

  • Companies with 15 or more staff that must record working hours
  • Teams that plan shifts and need clock-in records
  • Employers in Spain, Latin America or elsewhere in Europe

  • The API and single sign-on come only with Scale or a custom plan; prices exclude taxes.

It stands best on features (B, above 1 of 9) and worst on ease of use (C, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Sesame HR you could make: time off, employee records and applicant tracking. What surrounds it you could not. The 7 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It costs $45 a year.

What you could make

  • Time off, employee records and applicant tracking: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Clocking in from a phone, checked against where and when.
  • A rota the whole staff sees on their phones, with swaps and alerts.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: roles and permissions.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Sesame HR’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
