Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 6 of the 20 other e-signature and proposal tools we grade
Signable is a UK-based e-signature service from Bristol for sending documents to be signed, tracking them and keeping a signed copy with an audit trail. Plans are priced by a yearly allowance of envelopes rather than by user, so every plan includes unlimited users and templates. Higher plans add an API, teams, bulk send and qualified electronic signatures.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Signable, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The report card
Best for UK teams with many senders and few envelopes
Signable, from Bristol, charges by envelopes rather than people, so £40 a month covers your whole team with unlimited users and templates. That's handy for a big office that signs a little. But it's 300 envelopes a year, prices are in pounds plus VAT, and bulk send and the API sit on Business, sold through sales.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | £40 a month billed yearly, plus VAT, for unlimited users and 300 envelopes a year. Split five ways, that's around this category's middle per head once pounds become dollars. One person alone pays the full £40, and going over the allowance costs a fee per envelope. |
| Free plan and trial | C | No free plan, but a 14-day free trial with no card needed. Pay As You Go skips the subscription, from £2.60 an envelope, which suits the odd document but isn't free. |
| Features | C | Unlimited users and templates, advanced signatures, an eSeal, two-factor checks for signers, reminders, signing order and AI field placement. The gaps the listing names: bulk send, teams, the API and qualified signatures start on Business, sold through sales. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record, and no phone app. It's a web app where you set up templates, users and roles before it runs smoothly. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, but it connects to Google Drive, Google Docs, Dropbox, HubSpot, Slack, Zapier and Make. No phone or desktop app is listed, and text-message checks for signers work in the UK only. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Signable is for
- Great if lots of people in your office send the odd contract, as users are unlimited
- Handy when you want your documents held in the UK
- Good for UK charities, which get 10% off the first year
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you're one person, since the whole £40 a month lands on you
- Tight if you send more than 300 envelopes a year, as each one over costs a fee
- Skip it if you need bulk send or the API at a published price, as both need Business through sales
Good to know
Good for
- UK businesses that want data held in the UK and UK-based support
- Organizations with many people sending documents but modest volumes
- Teams that need qualified electronic signatures under UK and EU rules
Worth knowing
- Prices are in pounds, exclude VAT and are billed yearly; the envelope allowance is a yearly total available upfront.
- Pay As You Go has no subscription and charges from £2.60 per envelope; going over a plan's allowance without a bundle adds a fee per envelope.
- The API, teams, bulk send and qualified signatures start at Business, which is sold through sales; SSO is Enterprise only.
- Two-factor checks for signers by text message work in the UK only.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Your call
You could make the core of Signable for yourself: documents and templates.
What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $634.58 a year.
What you could make
- Documents and templates: an app builder makes these well.
- It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.
What you could not
- It plugs into other products, Google Drive, Google Docs and Dropbox among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
What this rests on. Signable’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
