Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 48 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade
Tasks is a simple to-do list and reminder app from Pocket Brilliance for Android and, since July 2026, iPhone and iPad. Lists are color-coded and can be split into sublists, tasks take subtasks, notes, tags and one-time or recurring reminders, and a calendar view and home screen widget show what is due. The free app carries no ads; Premium adds device sync, cloud backup, shared lists and a web app.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Tasks: To Do List & Reminders, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Simple by design: make a list, drag things around, tick a task off from its notification, with nothing to set up first.

The report card
Best for a simple, ad-free to-do list on Android
Tasks is a to-do list from Pocket Brilliance with color-coded lists, sublists, subtasks and reminders, and no ads on the free version. But sync, cloud backup, shared lists and the web app need Premium from $1.99 a month, free stops at 3 tags, prices vary between listings, and the iPhone app arrived in July 2026, needs iOS 26 and is below version 1.0. For now it's an Android app first.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Premium is $1.99 to $2.49 a month, or $19.99 to $24.99 a year, as the US App Store lists two prices for each. That puts it inside the cheapest quarter of this category, if not under it. It buys sync, cloud backup, shared lists and the web app. Lifetime is $69.99. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free with no ads: lists, sublists, tasks, subtasks, reminders, alarms and widgets. Then you want a second device. Tags stop at 3, sync and cloud backup need Premium, and restoring a manual backup needs a donation or a subscription, so the safety net isn't free either. |
| Features | B | Color-coded lists split into sublists, subtasks, priorities, recurring reminders you can snooze from the notification, a calendar view and a widget. Premium adds lists shared by link. Nothing in the listing names a gap in the core work of a to-do list. |
| Ease of use | B | Simple by design: make a list, drag things around, tick a task off from its notification, with nothing to set up first. There's no rating on record to go by, so it stops at a B. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | Android, iPhone and iPad, plus a web app on Premium, and that's the lot: no desktop app, no integrations and no API, so there's nothing to connect it to. The iPhone app was announced in July 2026, needs iOS 26 or later and is still below version 1.0. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Tasks: To Do List & Reminders is for
- Fits if you want a simple Android to-do list with no ads and nothing to pay
- Works for sorting life into color-coded lists and sublists, like Home, then Garden
Who it is not for
- Tight if you tag everything and stay free, because the free version stops at 3 tags
- Not for you if you want sync, backup, shared lists or your list on a computer for free, as all need Premium
- Watch out: restoring even a manual backup needs a donation or a Premium subscription
- Skip it if your iPhone can't run iOS 26, which the new iPhone app requires, and it's still below version 1.0
- Watch out: the site shows no prices, and the App Store lists two for each plan, $1.99 or $2.49 a month
Good to know
Good for
- People who want a simple to-do list on Android with no ads
- Users who organize with color-coded lists and sublists

Worth knowing
- Device sync, automatic cloud backup, shared lists and the web app all require Premium.
- The free version is limited to 3 tags, and restoring a manual backup needs a donation or a Premium subscription.
- The vendor's site gives no prices: the US App Store lists two prices each for the monthly and yearly plans, and Google Play shows $0.99 to $69.99 per item.
- The iPhone and iPad app was announced in July 2026, requires iOS 26 or later, and its version numbers are still below 1.0.

Keep it
The plain part of Tasks: To Do List & Reminders you could make: tasks and calendar. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
It costs $23.88 a year.
What you could make
- Tasks and calendar: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
