Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 17 of the 69 other daily planner apps we grade

Timestripe is a planner built around Horizons: connected views for days, weeks, months, quarters, years and life, so a long-term goal can be broken down into milestones that surface in the daily plan. Undated work lives on kanban-style boards, and goals can carry notes, subgoals, files and assignees. The Basic plan is free with limits on goals and boards; Pro removes them.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Timestripe, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Once it clicks, a task, an event, a project and a note are all the same kind of thing.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for tying today's tasks to your long-term goals

Timestripe links what you do today to goals for the year and beyond: its Horizons stack days, weeks, months, quarters and years, so a big goal breaks into milestones that show up in your daily plan.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $7 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $7 per month on the 5-year plan ($9 per month billed yearly).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Basic plan: 5 goals on each horizon and 10 in each board list, 3 custom boards with 3 lists each, 1 Climb at a time, and files up to 10 MB each (100 MB in total).

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

Web, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    Horizons

Connected planning views for days, weeks, months, quarters, years and beyond. Big goals sit on longer horizons and are broken into milestones that reach the daily view.

  6. 6

    Goals with notes and subgoals

A task, event, project or note is the same kind of object. Each can take a date, an owner, subgoals, tags, files and rich-text notes with embedded content.

  7. 7

    Boards

Kanban-style boards hold anything without a date yet, such as backlogs and ideas. Board items can be linked to the planner or scheduled onto Horizons.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 17 of 69

That is against the other daily planner apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

The plain part of Timestripe you could make: goals, tasks, calendar, time blocking, kanban boards and notes. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card

Best for tying today's tasks to your long-term goals

Timestripe links what you do today to goals for the year and beyond: its Horizons stack days, weeks, months, quarters and years, so a big goal breaks into milestones that show up in your daily plan. Pro is $9 a month if you pay yearly. But monthly is $19, the free plan allows 5 goals per horizon and 3 boards, there's no desktop app, and App Store prices differ from the site.

ToolGPA report cardTimestripeGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $9 a month billed yearly, against the $6 a month planners typically start at, so it's the upper middle of the pack. Month to month it's $19, more than double, and the only road to $7 is paying for five years in one go. The App Store charges differently again, $19.99 a month or $99.99 a year.
Free plan and trialCBasic is free and holds the whole product, but the caps arrive fast: 5 goals on each horizon, 10 in each board list, 3 custom boards, 1 Climb at a time and 100 MB of files. Five goals is a thin year.
FeaturesBHorizons run from the day through weeks, months, quarters and years to life, and a goal carries subgoals, notes, files and an owner. Boards hold undated work, the day lays out as a calendar, Climbs are 100-plus ready-made programmes, and teams get spaces and comments on both plans. The job is covered.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and Horizons is an idea you have to get your head round first: six linked time scales, boards to build, a Climb to choose. Once it clicks, a task, an event, a project and a note are all the same kind of thing.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, with a public API and a command-line client so scripts can read and write the plan. There's no native Mac or Windows app, and the calendar side is Apple and Google only.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Timestripe is for

  • Fits if you want daily tasks tied to quarterly, yearly and life goals
  • Works for small teams planning shared goals with assignees and comments

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $19 a month against $9 a month on the yearly plan
  • Tight if you're staying free, with 5 goals per horizon, 3 custom boards and 1 Climb at a time
  • Not for you if you want a native Mac or Windows app, as none is listed
  • Watch out: the $7 rate means paying for five years at once, and the App Store charges $19.99 a month or $99.99 a year
  • Too light for calendar work beyond Apple and Google, the only two it connects to

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want daily tasks tied to quarterly, yearly and life goals
  • Small teams planning shared goals with assignees and comments
  • Anyone who likes guided step-by-step programs for a new goal

Worth knowing

  • The free Basic plan stops at 5 goals per horizon, 10 per board list, 3 custom boards and 1 Climb at a time.
  • Monthly billing costs $19 a month, more than double the $9 a month charged on the yearly plan.
  • No native desktop app is listed. Timestripe runs on the web, iOS and Android, plus a Chrome extension.
  • The US App Store lists Pro at $19.99 monthly and $99.99 annually, so in-app prices differ slightly from the website.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Timestripe you could make: goals, tasks, calendar, time blocking, kanban boards and notes. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 35 of the 69 other daily planner apps grade higher. It costs $84 a year.

What you could make

  • Goals, tasks, calendar, time blocking, kanban boards and notes: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Apple Calendar and Google Calendar among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Timestripe’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
