Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 2 of the 26 other AI app builders we grade
Trickle builds websites, forms and web apps from natural-language prompts on what it calls Magic Canvas, a visual workspace where pages, versions, assets and rules sit side by side as context for the AI. Generated pages can be adjusted by hand without spending credits, and each project includes hosting and a built-in database. Plans are metered in credits, with a free daily allowance.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Trickle, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for landing pages and small web apps on a canvas
Trickle swaps the usual chat-and-preview for a visual canvas, where your pages, versions, rules and reference images sit side by side for the AI to work from, and hand edits cost no credits.
- 2
Paid plans start at $17 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $17 per month, billed annually ($200); $20 billed monthly (Pro).
- 3
There is a free plan
70 credits a day, up to 350 a month, with a built-in database of 100 rows, website hosting and up to 3 projects. No custom domains, and pages carry a Trickle badge.
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Magic Canvas
Projects sit on a visual canvas instead of a chat-and-preview layout. Rules, references and assets placed on it give the AI its context, and pages and versions are laid out side by side.
- 6
Direct Edit
Styles can be changed and elements moved by hand on generated pages, without writing a prompt or spending credits.
- 7
Built-in database
Form submissions and other content are stored in collections created by prompt, with no backend code. Row limits are 100 on Free, 1,000 on Pro and 10,000 on Premium.
- 8
A 2.2 GPA, above 2 of 26
That is against the other AI app builders we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Trickle you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for landing pages and small web apps on a canvas
Trickle swaps the usual chat-and-preview for a visual canvas, where your pages, versions, rules and reference images sit side by side for the AI to work from, and hand edits cost no credits. But the database tops out at 1,000 rows on Pro and 10,000 on Premium, there are three integrations in all, free pages carry a badge, and exported code leaves out your data and AI functions.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | Pro is $17 a month billed annually ($200 a year), or $20 monthly, which sits in the ordinary band for builders here against a $19 middle. It brings 1,500 credits, unlimited private projects, one custom domain and no Trickle badge. The database stays small at 1,000 rows; Premium is $42 for 10,000. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Seventy credits a day, up to 350 a month, with hosting and up to 3 projects, so you can publish something. The caps land where it hurts: 100 database rows, which is nothing for a form that collects entries, no custom domain, and a Built with Trickle badge on every page. |
| Features | C | It does the basics: build from a prompt or a pasted screenshot, shift styles by hand for no credits, store form entries in a built-in database, publish with hosting. But the listing's own gaps are real — rows capped on every plan, three integrations in all, and exported code that leaves out your data and AI functions. |
| Ease of use | B | No rating on record. Pages, versions and reference images sit side by side on a canvas rather than in a chat thread, and Direct Edit lets you nudge styles and move elements without writing a prompt or spending a credit. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | A web app, with nothing on desktop or phone. The integration list runs to three — Supabase, Stripe and Three.js — and there's no API of its own on record. You can download the code files, though the export is incomplete. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Trickle is for
- Fits if you want a landing page, a form or a small web app without writing code
- Works for people who'd rather lay out references on a canvas than scroll a long chat
Who it is not for
- Too light for data-heavy apps, as the database stops at 1,000 rows on Pro and 10,000 on Premium
- Tight if you're staying free, with 3 projects, 100 rows, 70 credits a day, no custom domain and a Trickle badge on your pages
- Skip it if you plan to move out later, because exported code leaves out database data and AI functions
- Watch out: the $17 and $42 prices need a year upfront, $200 and $500; monthly it's $20 and $50
- Not for you if you need it to connect to much, since it lists three integrations, Supabase, Stripe and Three.js, and no API
Good to know
Good for
- Landing pages, forms and small web apps built without code
- People who prefer arranging context on a canvas to a long chat thread
- Light projects that fit a free daily credit allowance
Worth knowing
- Free projects carry a Built with Trickle badge and cannot use a custom domain.
- The Free plan is capped at 3 projects, 100 database rows and 70 credits a day, up to 350 a month.
- The $17 and $42 prices are annual plans ($200 and $500 a year) shown per month; monthly billing is $20 and $50.
- Exported code does not include database data or the AI functions tied to a project.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Trickle you would be making a tool that builds and hosts other apps. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 19 of the 26 other AI app builders grade higher. It costs $204 a year.
What you could not
- A tool that builds and hosts other apps.
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
What this rests on. Trickle’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
