Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
3.2
GPA, above 12 of the 17 other password managers we grade
Zoho Vault is a password manager from Zoho for personal and business use. Individuals get a free plan with unlimited passwords and passkeys on unlimited devices, while paid plans add password sharing, user roles, admin controls and activity reports. Higher tiers bring shared folders, emergency access, directory sync and single sign-on, and Vault connects to other Zoho apps such as Mail, Desk and Projects.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Zoho Vault, taken from its own pages and our grades.
The vault opens with Touch ID, Windows Hello, a passkey or a YubiKey, so there's not much master-password typing.
- 1
Best for password sharing for small teams at $0.90 a head
Zoho Vault is free for one person with no limit on passwords or devices, and Standard adds sharing for a team at $0.90 a person a month billed yearly.

- 5
Unlimited free vault for individuals
The free plan stores unlimited passwords, notes and documents, syncs across devices and includes browser extensions, mobile apps and a password generator.
- 6
Password sharing with permissions
Paid plans share passwords with individuals and groups at several permission levels, and can share once with third parties outside the organization.
- 7
Passkeys and passwordless unlock

The report card
Best for password sharing for small teams at $0.90 a head
Zoho Vault is free for one person with no limit on passwords or devices, and Standard adds sharing for a team at $0.90 a person a month billed yearly. Sharing even one login means paying, and shared folders, user groups and breached password alerts need Professional at $4.50, with a 5-user minimum. Attachments stop at 2 MB each, and there's no Linux desktop app.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Standard is $0.90 a user a month billed annually, or $1 monthly, where password managers here start at $2.49 in the lowest-priced quarter and $2.99 in the middle. That's under 60% of the low end, and it buys sharing, user roles and admin controls. |
| Free plan and trial | B | Free Forever is unlimited passwords, passkeys and devices for one person, with autofill, offline access and a built-in authenticator. One person could live on it. Sharing a single login with anyone, though, means paying. |
| Features | C | The basics: passwords, passkeys, autofill, a generator, a 2FA authenticator, plus sharing with permissions and audit trails on paid plans. The gaps are the listing's own. Shared folders, user groups and breached password alerts all wait for Professional, which needs 5 users. |
| Ease of use | B | 4.7 from about 880 App Store ratings, just short of the 1,000 we want before handing out an A. The vault opens with Touch ID, Windows Hello, a passkey or a YubiKey, so there's not much master-password typing. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and browser extensions, which is the lot. Then Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Okta, OneLogin and Active Directory, plus a command-line tool and webhooks on Professional. No Linux desktop app. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Zoho Vault is for
- Fits if you want a free password manager for yourself with no cap on passwords or devices
- Works for a small team sharing logins at $0.90 a head, or companies already on Zoho Mail, Desk or Projects
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want to share passwords with family for free, as sharing starts on Standard
- Tight if you're a team of two or three wanting shared folders, because Professional needs 5 users
- Not for you if you attach big files to logins, since attachments are capped at 2 MB each
- Pricey if you need single sign-on or Active Directory, which need Enterprise at $7.20 a user with 5 users minimum
- Skip it if you want a Linux desktop app, as the desktop app is Mac and Windows only
Good to know
Good for
- Individuals who want an unlimited free plan on all their devices
- Small teams that want low per-user pricing
- Companies already using Zoho apps such as Mail, Desk and Projects
Worth knowing
- The Free Forever plan has no password sharing; sharing starts with the Standard plan.
- Professional and Enterprise each require a minimum of 5 users.
- Shared folders, user groups and breached password alerts need Professional; single sign-on and Active Directory integration need Enterprise.
- File attachments are capped at 2 MB each, and the desktop app is listed for Mac and Windows only.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Zoho Vault you would be making a password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.2 is higher than 12 of the 17 other password managers we grade. It costs $10.80 a year.
What you could not
- A password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves.
- Passkeys, which rest on security you cannot improvise.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Okta among them.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: single sign-on and roles and permissions.
