  • Phone-first tracking from a widget or a watch
  • Solo freelancers who need hours per client but no team features

Worth knowing

aTimeLogger

  • The website and the US App Store disagree on two prices: Premium is $10.99 against $9.99, and Premium Sync is $4.99 a month against $5.99.
  • Sync between devices and the web app need the Premium Sync subscription; the one-time purchases do not include them.
  • The vendor's FAQ says there is no built-in invoice generator and no team management.
  • The Mac App Store listing for the macOS app shows its latest version dated November 2023.

ATracker

  • Premium sits on top of Pro: the website says subscribers must first have upgraded, and the subscription is managed on the iOS or Android device.
  • The web app and sync between devices are only in the Premium subscription.
  • Apple Watch support, the home-screen widget and Dropbox sync are listed for iOS only.
  • The website calls the free version free to use with restrictions without listing its limits.

Key features

aTimeLogger

One-tap activity tracking
Tapping an activity's icon starts logging at once, and activities can be paused and resumed. Paid plans let several run at the same time and remove the limit on categories.
Goals
Reach goals encourage a habit and limit goals cap one, daily or weekly, measured by time or, in Premium, by number of occurrences. The app notifies you when a goal is reached.
Reports and statistics
Reports cover a chosen date range and set of activity types, shown as charts and exported to CSV or HTML. The web app also exports reports to PDF.
Widgets, watch and automation
Home and lock-screen widgets, Apple Watch and Wear OS apps, Siri and Apple Shortcuts actions start or stop tracking without opening the app. Tasker does the same on Android.
Pomodoro, calendar and custom fields
Premium adds a configurable Pomodoro timer with strict mode, countdown timers, copying logged time to the system calendar, and custom fields such as an hourly rate.
Sync, web app and AI assistants
Premium Sync shares data between iOS, Android, macOS and the web app. An open-source MCP server lets Claude and other assistants start timers and fetch reports with a revocable token.

ATracker

One-tap tracking
Creating a task takes seconds and one tap starts or stops it. The timer keeps running when the app is closed or the phone is asleep, and alarms can be set per activity.
History in list and calendar views
Every entry is stored and shown as a list or on a calendar. Entries can be edited afterwards, notes added, and time that was missed logged later.
Charts and reports
Pie charts and bar charts show where time went by task or by tag. Reports can be shared, and Pro exports the underlying data as CSV.
Goals and tags
Daily and weekly goals are set per task or tag, with reports on progress. Advanced tags hold numbers or drop-down values, so counts such as books read can be tracked too.
Two-way calendar sync
Task entries can be saved as calendar events, and existing calendar events can be converted into task entries.
Web version and sync
Premium subscribers get a web app with dashboards that combine pages such as the home page, history and reports, and their data syncs between iOS, Android and the web.

Ways to pay less

aTimeLogger

  • Lifetime license

One-time purchases instead of a subscription

The FAQ says Standard ($5.99) and Premium ($10.99) are one-time purchases that never expire. Only sync and the web app need the monthly Premium Sync subscription.

  • Annual discount

Yearly subscription on the US App Store

The US App Store listing shows Premium at $44.99 a year against $5.99 a month, about 37% less over twelve months, and $24.99 for six months.

  • Other savings

Lifetime Access on the US App Store

The US App Store listing includes a Lifetime Access in-app purchase at $119.00. The listing does not say what it covers, and the website does not mention it.

ATracker

  • Annual discount

About 25% less with the yearly Premium plan

Premium is listed at $2.99 a month or $26.99 a year. Twelve monthly payments come to $35.88, so the yearly plan costs about 25% less.

  • Lifetime license

    Pro is a one-time purchase

The Pro upgrade is a single payment of $4.99 on iOS or $2.99 on Android. Only the Premium features (web app, sync, unlimited tags and goals) are a subscription.
