Value for money
BWe can't tell you what Pro costs, because Appgenix's site doesn't say. Google Play shows in-app purchases from $1.49 to $8.99 per item with no billing period. Cheap at either end, but unclear, so it gets a B and not an A.
AJorte Plus is $3.99 a year. Not a month, a year. That turns the ads off and adds up to 100 extra calendars, a passcode lock and Outlook sync. Premium is $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year on Android, mostly for unlimited themes and icons.
Free plan and trial
AFree gets month, week, day, agenda, year and task views, the widgets, up to 5 reminders per event, voice input and Google Tasks sync. It has ads. Most people could stay here and never feel short.
AThe free app has the calendar views, to-do lists, diary, event calendars, widgets and the links to Google Calendar and the iOS calendar. Most people could stay on it. You do put up with ads, and extra calendars and the passcode lock are paid.
Features
AA week view that stretches from 1 to 14 days, a year view with a heat map of busy days, seven widgets with over 50 options, and tasks beside events. Pro adds templates, drag and drop, multi-selection, weather and print to PDF.
BMonth, week, day and vertical views, to-dos that sync with Google Tasks, a diary with photos, and widgets in 25 sizes. Plenty. But Outlook sync covers Office 365 calendars only, not Outlook.com or Exchange, and theme packs cost extra unless you have Premium.
Ease of use
BThere's no App Store rating to go on, as it isn't on iPhone. It uses the calendars Android already syncs, so there's no new account to set up, and you can speak events in English, German, French or Japanese.
BIt's a phone app laid out like a paper organizer, so the views will look familiar from day one. We have no App Store rating on record to show how people get on with it, so it stops at a B.
Platforms and integrations
DAndroid only, which does include Chromebooks and Wear OS watches. No iOS, desktop or web app is listed. It reads Google, Outlook, Exchange and CalDAV calendars through the device.
AiPhone, iPad and Android, plus the free Jorte PF web service for your computer. It links to Google Calendar, the iOS calendar, Google Tasks, Outlook and Evernote. There's no desktop app, so on a computer it's the browser.
