How we grade them

Value for money
A$29.99 once for a lifetime license on 2 Macs, future updates included. That's under four months of a typical planner subscription. A family license for up to 6 Macs is $59.99.
C$17 a user a month if you pay $204 for the year, or $22 month to month. That's the dear end for a planner, where the typical one is about $8. You do get everything on the one plan, with nothing held back for a higher tier.
Free plan and trial
CNo free plan. You get 7 days with every feature on 1 Mac and no card needed, then access stops unless you buy a license.
CNo free plan. You get 14 days with every feature and no card asked for, which is fair. After that the workspace stops unless you subscribe.
Features
ABlocks dragged onto a day, week or month timeline, two-way sync with Apple, Google and Outlook calendars, Apple Reminders in the same column, reusable day templates, and a dashboard of planned hours against follow-through. PDF and CSV export too.
AA guided daily plan, timeboxing onto Google, Outlook or iCloud calendars, tasks pulled in from Asana, Trello, Jira, Notion, Gmail and Slack, a focus timer with Pomodoro, and a weekly review. That's the whole job, from the start of the day to the end of the week.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. It opens from the menu bar or with Cmd+/, and a countdown for the current block sits up there while you work.
B4.5 from about 500 App Store ratings. The daily routine goes step by step, so you always know what's next: review yesterday, add today's tasks, check the workload, set the order.
Platforms and integrations
DMac only, on macOS 12 or later. It hooks into Apple, Google and Outlook calendars and has a local MCP server for Claude, but there's no Windows, Linux or Android version. The iPhone app is still marked coming soon.
AWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. It syncs with Google, Outlook and Apple calendars and pulls from Asana, Todoist, Notion, Slack and Gmail, with Zapier and MCP on top.

Key features

Chunk

Menu bar panel
Opens from the menu bar or with Cmd+/ and floats above other windows, fullscreen apps included. A countdown for the current block stays in the menu bar.
Day, week and month timeline
Drag on the timeline to create a block or drop a task from a list. Views cover one, three or five days, a week or a month, with PDF and CSV export.
Two-way calendar sync
Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar events sit beside your blocks, and moving or resizing one in Chunk writes the change back. A lock toggle makes them read-only.
Task lists and templates
Smart lists, custom lists and Apple Reminders share one searchable column. Recurring template lists store a reusable day to apply whole or block by block.
Analytics
A dashboard compares 7, 30 and 90-day ranges for planned hours, completed tasks, follow-through and how consistently recurring routines were kept.
Local MCP server for Claude
An optional MCP server runs on the Mac and lets Claude Desktop read the schedule and create, edit or delete events, tasks and templates.
