Worth knowing

Chunk

  • Chunk runs on macOS 12 or later only; the vendor says there is no Windows, Linux or Android version.
  • The iPhone app is listed as coming soon and will be a separate $8.99 one-time purchase, not part of the Mac license.
  • There is no free plan: access stops when the 7-day trial ends unless a license is bought.
  • A Mac license bought directly from Chunk is a final sale and is not refundable.

TimeFinder

  • The vendor's site publishes no prices. The US App Store lists Premium at seven amounts from $4.99 to $79.99 without billing periods.
  • The store listing says some features require TimeFinder Premium but does not say which.
  • Two-way Apple Reminders sync and the Apple Watch app appear only on the App Store listing, not on the Google Play one.

Key features

Chunk

Menu bar panel
Opens from the menu bar or with Cmd+/ and floats above other windows, fullscreen apps included. A countdown for the current block stays in the menu bar.
Day, week and month timeline
Drag on the timeline to create a block or drop a task from a list. Views cover one, three or five days, a week or a month, with PDF and CSV export.
Two-way calendar sync
Google, Outlook and Apple Calendar events sit beside your blocks, and moving or resizing one in Chunk writes the change back. A lock toggle makes them read-only.
Task lists and templates
Smart lists, custom lists and Apple Reminders share one searchable column. Recurring template lists store a reusable day to apply whole or block by block.
Analytics
A dashboard compares 7, 30 and 90-day ranges for planned hours, completed tasks, follow-through and how consistently recurring routines were kept.
Local MCP server for Claude
An optional MCP server runs on the Mac and lets Claude Desktop read the schedule and create, edit or delete events, tasks and templates.

TimeFinder

Split view with drag and drop
Task lists and the schedule sit side by side, and a task becomes a time block when it is dragged into a slot. It can be dragged back to a list the same way.
Flexible time blocks
The day can be planned in 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60-minute intervals, and blocks are stretched, shrunk and rearranged by dragging.
Schedule Shift and task rollover
Schedule Shift moves tasks earlier or later in one tap when the day runs late, and rollover carries unfinished tasks into available time slots.
Task bucket
A task can be committed to a date without being tied to a time slot, then placed on the schedule once the day takes shape.
Calendar and Reminders sync
Imports events from Apple Calendar, Google and Outlook and exports the TimeFinder schedule back. The Apple apps also sync both ways with Apple Reminders.
Schedule templates and color palettes
Routines can be saved as templates and reapplied. Task labels remember their colors, and palettes can be chosen from presets or built in a palette editor.
