Value for money
BNo prices are published, so we can't say if it's cheap or dear. Packages are quoted by sales from your scale and needs. Two things to know before that call: people who only read still take a paid seat, and Guru doesn't issue refunds.
BScaling is $8 a user a month billed yearly, or $10 monthly, which is under what's typical here, and AI answers, the Slack bot and the API are all in. But the 10-user minimum sets the floor at ten seats, and SAML SSO and SCIM are paid add-ons unless you go Enterprise.
Free plan and trial
FNothing free on record: no free plan, no trial and no self-serve sign-up. The only way in is a conversation with the sales team.
CNo free plan. The trial is a decent one, though: 30 days with all features included and no credit card required. When it ends, you need a card to carry on.
Features
AA knowledge base kept current through verification, agents that answer with citations and can act in connected systems, search across more than 100 sources that keeps each one's permissions, plus SAML SSO, SCIM and audit logs.
APages you write or build from Google Docs and Markdown files, a store of answered questions, and Kai answering from all of it in Tettra and Slack. Experts verify pages on a schedule, and reports list what's stale or unowned. Read-only users, guests and page locking round it out.
Ease of use
BNo app rating on record. It's hosted, and answers turn up where people already are: Slack, Microsoft Teams and a browser extension. But you can't sign up and look around by yourself first.
BNo rating on record to go by, so a B is as high as we go. It's used in a browser and through Slack, so there's nothing to install, and you can bring in the Google Docs you already have. The interface is English-only.
Platforms and integrations
BWeb, a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Opera, Slack and Teams, more than 100 connectors and an MCP server. There's no native mobile app though: phones get a mobile web app or Slack.
BWeb only: Tettra's site lists no desktop or mobile apps. It works through Slack and connects to Google Workspace, GitHub and Zapier, with API access on the Scaling plan.

Key features

Guru

Verified knowledge base
Knowledge is organized into collections and kept current through verification. Usage signals, content age and policy rules handle most checks, and the rest are routed to assigned experts.
Knowledge Agents
Chat-style agents answer questions with citations, run multi-step research across sources and can act in connected systems, such as creating a ticket, as the signed-in user.
Search across connected sources
More than 100 connectors bring enterprise apps, databases and file systems into one search index, and each source keeps its original access permissions.
AI-drafted documentation
Agents turn conversations, meetings and tickets into draft documents and route them to subject-matter experts for review before anything is published.
Answers inside other tools
Guru answers questions in Slack and Microsoft Teams, in a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Opera, and through an MCP server that AI tools can query.
Governance controls
Role-based access, SAML SSO and SCIM, audit logs with lineage, and DLP masking that redacts personal and sensitive data when content is ingested.

Tettra

Internal knowledge base
Pages are written in Tettra's editor or built from existing Google Docs, Markdown files and other content, then grouped into categories with unlimited version history.
AI answers from Kai
When someone asks a question in Tettra or Slack, the Kai bot searches the knowledge base and replies. If it finds nothing, it helps assign the question to the right person.
Questions and answers
Questions and their answers are stored alongside pages, so a question that has been answered once can be found again instead of asked again.
Verification and content reports
Subject-matter experts verify pages on a set schedule, teammates can request new pages or updates, and reports list stale, unowned and public content.
Slack integration
From Slack, teammates can search Tettra, get AI answers in channels and direct messages, summarize threads and turn existing answers into knowledge base content.
Sharing and permissions
Single pages can be shared by link and whole categories published as external sites. Read-only users, guest users, invite-only categories and page locking control access.
