Best for Slack teams tired of answering the same question

Tettra is an internal knowledge base built to stop the same question being asked twice. Its bot, Kai, answers from your pages right inside Slack, and your experts get reminded to keep those pages current. But there's no free plan, and the one self-serve plan has a 10-user minimum, so four people still pay for ten seats.

Who Tettra is for

  • Great if your team lives in Slack and keeps fielding the same questions
  • Handy when your knowledge already sits in Google Docs and you'd like to reuse it as a wiki
  • Good for support and ops teams who want experts reminded to keep pages current

Who Tettra is not for

  • Skip it if you're a team of three or four, as the plan has a 10-user minimum
  • Not for you if you want a free plan, because there's only the 30-day trial
  • Not for you if you need the app itself in another language, as the interface is English-only

Why Tettra gets a 3.0

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • BValue for moneyScaling is $8 a user a month billed yearly, or $10 monthly, which is under what's typical here, and AI answers, the Slack bot and the API are all in. But the 10-user minimum sets the floor at ten seats, and SAML SSO and SCIM are paid add-ons unless you go Enterprise.
  • CFree plan and trialNo free plan. The trial is a decent one, though: 30 days with all features included and no credit card required. When it ends, you need a card to carry on.
  • AFeaturesPages you write or build from Google Docs and Markdown files, a store of answered questions, and Kai answering from all of it in Tettra and Slack. Experts verify pages on a schedule, and reports list what's stale or unowned. Read-only users, guests and page locking round it out.
  • BEase of useNo rating on record to go by, so a B is as high as we go. It's used in a browser and through Slack, so there's nothing to install, and you can bring in the Google Docs you already have. The interface is English-only.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsWeb only: Tettra's site lists no desktop or mobile apps. It works through Slack and connects to Google Workspace, GitHub and Zapier, with API access on the Scaling plan.

What is Tettra?

Tettra is an internal knowledge base aimed at cutting down repeated questions. Teams write pages in its editor or bring in existing Google Docs and other files, and an AI bot called Kai answers questions from that content in Tettra and in Slack. Verification schedules and content reports help subject-matter experts keep pages current.

Tettra is a paid product with a free trial, starting at $8 per user / month, billed yearly ($10 billed monthly), 10-user minimum. See every plan

Good for

  • Slack-based teams that field the same questions repeatedly
  • Support and operations teams building an internal knowledge base
  • Companies that want to reuse existing Google Docs as a wiki

Worth knowing

  • There is no free plan: a card is required once the 30-day trial ends, and the Scaling plan has a 10-user minimum.
  • Single sign-on (SAML) and SCIM provisioning are paid add-ons on Scaling and are included only in Enterprise.
  • The app interface is English-only, although content can be written in any language.
  • Tettra's site lists no desktop or mobile apps; it is used in a browser and through its Slack integration.

Key features

Internal knowledge base
Pages are written in Tettra's editor or built from existing Google Docs, Markdown files and other content, then grouped into categories with unlimited version history.
AI answers from Kai
When someone asks a question in Tettra or Slack, the Kai bot searches the knowledge base and replies. If it finds nothing, it helps assign the question to the right person.
Questions and answers
Questions and their answers are stored alongside pages, so a question that has been answered once can be found again instead of asked again.
Verification and content reports
Subject-matter experts verify pages on a set schedule, teammates can request new pages or updates, and reports list stale, unowned and public content.
Slack integration
From Slack, teammates can search Tettra, get AI answers in channels and direct messages, summarize threads and turn existing answers into knowledge base content.
Sharing and permissions
Single pages can be shared by link and whole categories published as external sites. Read-only users, guest users, invite-only categories and page locking control access.
