What is Papyrs?

Papyrs is a hosted intranet and internal wiki that teams assemble from pages and drag-and-drop widgets such as text, files, checklists, polls, discussions and embeds. Content is organized into subsites with their own access settings, and a section can be opened to clients as a portal. Paid plans are flat monthly prices for a band of users instead of a per-user fee, and a free Personal Wiki covers one user.

Papyrs has a free plan. Paid plans start at $89 per month for up to 20 users, billed annually ($99 billed monthly). See every plan

Good for

  • Companies that want an intranet at a flat price instead of a per-user fee
  • Non-technical staff building intranet pages by drag and drop
  • Sharing a section of the wiki with clients as a portal

Worth knowing

  • The free Personal Wiki is for one user with two subsites and 1GB of storage; the smallest paid plan is $89 a month billed annually.
  • Everyone who can log in counts as a user, including read-only viewers and guests, against limits of 20, 40, 60 or 120 users.
  • A custom domain and SAML need Company Wiki, and form, calendar and video widgets need Company Intranet at $899 a month.
  • There are no native apps: mobile access is through iOS and Android web apps (PWAs). EU and UK customers are billed in euros.

Key features

Drag-and-drop page editor
Pages are built by dropping in widgets for text, files, checklists, polls, tables, videos and embeds. A Markdown mode and a keyboard command palette are there for people who prefer typing.
Subsites and permissions
Each subsite is a separate workspace with its own pages, menu bar, access and notification settings, used to organize content by topic, project or team.
Search and version history
Search covers pages, files, discussions and forms. Page and file versions can be compared and rolled back for the last 120 days, or without a time limit on Company Intranet.
Forms and database views
Form field widgets collect data and requests, and records can be listed, filtered, shown on a calendar and exported to CSV. These widgets are part of the Company Intranet plan.
Client portal
Sections can be shared with external people to run a client or community portal, with permission settings limiting what each person sees.
Single sign-on and API
People can log in with Google Workspace, Slack or Microsoft accounts, SAML starts on Company Wiki, and an API and Zapier connect Papyrs to other tools.
