Value for money
BThere's no price to weigh. The only paid plan, Organization, is quoted by sales according to how many credits you need, and a B is where we put a tool whose paid side isn't published. It is metered, mind: a search or answer uses 1 credit and an update uses 3.
BScaling is $8 a user a month billed yearly, or $10 monthly, which is under what's typical here, and AI answers, the Slack bot and the API are all in. But the 10-user minimum sets the floor at ten seats, and SAML SSO and SCIM are paid add-ons unless you go Enterprise.
Free plan and trial
BStarter is free and comes with the trust engine, 4 connectors and the ingestion API. But it stops at 3 collaborators and 1,000 credits a month, and unused credits don't roll over. Enough to try it, tight for a real team.
CNo free plan. The trial is a decent one, though: 30 days with all features included and no credit card required. When it ends, you need a card to carry on.
Features
BDeep where it counts: answers carry reviewer, recency and corroboration labels, conflicts get flagged, and gaps are routed to your experts through Slack. The old Q&A, Articles and Collections are still here. But it captures from just four connectors, with an API for everything else.
APages you write or build from Google Docs and Markdown files, a store of answered questions, and Kai answering from all of it in Tettra and Slack. Experts verify pages on a schedule, and reports list what's stale or unowned. Read-only users, guests and page locking round it out.
Ease of use
BNo rating on record to go by, so a B is as high as we go. It runs in the browser with nothing to install. You'll want Slack or Microsoft Teams connected before it earns its keep, and credits take a little getting used to.
BNo rating on record to go by, so a B is as high as we go. It's used in a browser and through Slack, so there's nothing to install, and you can bring in the Google Docs you already have. The interface is English-only.
Platforms and integrations
BIt's a web app, with no desktop or phone apps listed. It connects to Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Docs, and a REST API and an MCP server carry answers to assistants like Claude and Cursor.
BWeb only: Tettra's site lists no desktop or mobile apps. It works through Slack and connects to Google Workspace, GitHub and Zapier, with API access on the Scaling plan.

Tettra

  • There is no free plan: a card is required once the 30-day trial ends, and the Scaling plan has a 10-user minimum.
  • Single sign-on (SAML) and SCIM provisioning are paid add-ons on Scaling and are included only in Enterprise.

Key features

Stack Internal

Automatic capture
Connectors for Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs and Stack Internal Community, plus a custom ingestion API, pull content in and break it into reusable units of knowledge.
Trust engine and confidence labels
Answers carry reviewer, recency and corroboration labels, and conflicting information is flagged, so a reader can tell when knowledge is reliable or needs validating.
Expert validation
Subject-matter experts are detected automatically and can also be managed by hand. Critical gaps trigger a validation workflow routed to them through Slack.
Scopes and permissions
Knowledge is organized into role-based Scopes so that people, teams and AI agents reach only what they should. Custom roles come with the Organization plan.
Delivery to people and AI agents
A chat interface, a REST API and an MCP server bring validated knowledge to people and to assistants and coding agents such as Claude and Cursor.
Q&A, Articles and Collections
The Community features keep Stack Overflow-style Q&A, long-form Articles, custom tags and curated Collections of related content.

Tettra

Internal knowledge base
Pages are written in Tettra's editor or built from existing Google Docs, Markdown files and other content, then grouped into categories with unlimited version history.
AI answers from Kai
When someone asks a question in Tettra or Slack, the Kai bot searches the knowledge base and replies. If it finds nothing, it helps assign the question to the right person.
Questions and answers
Questions and their answers are stored alongside pages, so a question that has been answered once can be found again instead of asked again.
Verification and content reports
Subject-matter experts verify pages on a set schedule, teammates can request new pages or updates, and reports list stale, unowned and public content.
Slack integration
From Slack, teammates can search Tettra, get AI answers in channels and direct messages, summarize threads and turn existing answers into knowledge base content.
Sharing and permissions
Single pages can be shared by link and whole categories published as external sites. Read-only users, guest users, invite-only categories and page locking control access.
