Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

1.6

GPA, above 0 of the 13 other e-signature and proposal tools we grade

Adobe Acrobat Sign is Adobe's e-signature service. Small teams get it as part of an Acrobat for teams plan, where documents can be sent for signature straight from Acrobat with no cap on the number of e-signatures, alongside Acrobat's PDF editing tools. Larger companies can buy Acrobat Sign Solutions on its own through sales, with more integrations, signer authentication and compliance features.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Adobe Acrobat Sign, taken from its own pages and our grades.

If you need Acrobat anyway, that's a fair deal.
From our report card of Adobe Acrobat Sign
  1. 1

Best for teams that need Acrobat's PDF tools anyway

For small teams, Adobe Acrobat Sign comes inside Acrobat for teams: Acrobat's PDF editing, plus sending documents for signature with no cap.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $16.99 a month for each person

As its pricing page puts it: $16.99 per license / month, annual plan billed monthly.

  3. 3

14-day free trial of Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Studio for teams, for up to 10 licenses

  4. 4

    It runs on 2 platforms

    Web and iOS.

  5. 5

    Send from Acrobat

Request e-signatures directly from Acrobat on desktop, web or mobile, with no usage cap on e-signatures in Acrobat for teams plans.

  6. 6

    Several signers at once

Send one document to multiple signers, each of whom gets a personal copy; Acrobat Pro adds bulk sending.

  7. 7

    Tracking and audit trails

Real-time status and notifications for documents out for signature, with audit trails kept for completed ones.

  8. 8

    A 1.6 GPA, above 0 of 13

The report card

Best for teams that need Acrobat's PDF tools anyway

For small teams, Adobe Acrobat Sign comes inside Acrobat for teams: Acrobat's PDF editing, plus sending documents for signature with no cap. If you need Acrobat anyway, that's a fair deal. If you only want e-signatures, you're paying for a PDF editor, signing up for a year, and the Sign phone app is poorly rated.

ToolGPA report cardAdobe Acrobat SignGraded Oct 17, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCAbout $51 a month for three on Acrobat Standard for teams, at $16.99 a licence on the annual plan billed monthly. That's the dearer end of this category, but it includes a full PDF editor and uncapped e-signatures. Bulk send and branding need Pro at $23.99.
Free plan and trialDNo free plan. There's a 14-day trial of Pro or Studio for teams, but it runs on into a yearly commitment: cancel more than 14 days after it ends and you pay half of what's left.
FeaturesCSend from Acrobat, several signers at once, tracking, audit trails, web forms and branding, plus the PDF tools. But Adobe itself says the signing in Acrobat Standard and Pro doesn't reach the compliance level of Acrobat Sign Solutions, which is sold through sales.
Ease of useF2.2 from about 650 App Store ratings for the Acrobat Sign app, by far the lowest in this category. You can send from Acrobat on a computer instead, but on a phone this is the app.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, desktop Acrobat and iPhone, with Word, Teams, Salesforce, Workday, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. No Android app is listed, so it misses an A.
Grade point averageWeak, out of 4.01.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Adobe Acrobat Sign is for

  • Great if your team edits PDFs in Acrobat already and wants signing included
  • Handy when you send lots of agreements, since team plans put no cap on e-signatures
  • Good for companies that live in Word, Teams and OneDrive

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you only want e-signatures, as you're paying for a whole PDF editor
  • Not for you if you might cancel early, as every plan is a year's commitment
  • Too light for regulated work, as Adobe keeps its full compliance for Sign Solutions

Good to know

Good for

  • Teams that already need Acrobat for PDF editing and want e-signatures included
  • Businesses that send a high volume of agreements, since team plans have no e-signature cap
  • Large companies that need Adobe's enterprise e-signature compliance, via sales

Worth knowing

  • Small teams cannot buy Acrobat Sign on its own: it comes inside an Acrobat for teams plan, and the standalone Acrobat Sign Solutions is sold only through sales.
  • Plans are annual commitments paid monthly; cancelling more than 14 days after the trial ends costs half the remaining commitment.
  • Adobe says the e-signature features in Acrobat Standard and Pro do not offer the compliance level of Acrobat Sign Solutions.
  • The Acrobat AI Assistant is a paid add-on on Standard and Pro and is included only in Acrobat Studio.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Adobe Acrobat Sign you could make: documents and forms. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 13 of the 13 other e-signature and proposal tools grade higher. It costs $203.88 a year.

What you could make

  • Documents and forms: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams and Salesforce among them.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Adobe Acrobat Sign’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
