How we grade them
| 1.6GPAAdobe Acrobat SignWeak | 2.0GPAPandaDocFair | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | CAbout $51 a month for three on Acrobat Standard for teams, at $16.99 a licence on the annual plan billed monthly. That's the dearer end of this category, but it includes a full PDF editor and uncapped e-signatures. Bulk send and branding need Pro at $23.99. | D$57 a month for three on Starter, billed yearly ($19 a head, $35 monthly), for unlimited documents but only 5 templates. What you'd pick PandaDoc for, pricing tables, auto reminders and analytics, needs Business: $147 a month for three, four times this category's middle. |
| Free plan and trial | DNo free plan. There's a 14-day trial of Pro or Studio for teams, but it runs on into a yearly commitment: cancel more than 14 days after it ends and you pay half of what's left. | CFree eSign covers 5 documents a month, 2 recipients each and 5 templates, with no integrations. Fine for a freelancer now and then; a team sending 20 a month is past it in the first week. The 14-day Business trial allows 50 documents. |
| Features | CSend from Acrobat, several signers at once, tracking, audit trails, web forms and branding, plus the PDF tools. But Adobe itself says the signing in Acrobat Standard and Pro doesn't reach the compliance level of Acrobat Sign Solutions, which is sold through sales. | CThe editor, Word import, Stripe payments and, on Business, quotes, pricing tables, approvals and analytics. That's a lot. But bulk send, forms and recipient verification are add-ons priced through sales, where plain signing apps include them. |
| Ease of use | F2.2 from about 650 App Store ratings for the Acrobat Sign app, by far the lowest in this category. You can send from Acrobat on a computer instead, but on a phone this is the app. | CThere's an iPhone app but no store rating on record. The editor does a lot, and there's real setting up before it pays off: templates, pricing tables and a content library to build. |
| Platforms and integrations | BWeb, desktop Acrobat and iPhone, with Word, Teams, Salesforce, Workday, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. No Android app is listed, so it misses an A. | BWeb and iPhone, with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics, Stripe, QuickBooks, Slack and Canva, Salesforce as an add-on, an API and links to ChatGPT and Claude. No Android or desktop app is listed. |
| Best for | teams that need Acrobat's PDF tools anyway | proposals and quotes that get signed and paid |

Worth knowing
Adobe Acrobat Sign
- Small teams cannot buy Acrobat Sign on its own: it comes inside an Acrobat for teams plan, and the standalone Acrobat Sign Solutions is sold only through sales.
- Plans are annual commitments paid monthly; cancelling more than 14 days after the trial ends costs half the remaining commitment.
- Adobe says the e-signature features in Acrobat Standard and Pro do not offer the compliance level of Acrobat Sign Solutions.
- The Acrobat AI Assistant is a paid add-on on Standard and Pro and is included only in Acrobat Studio.
PandaDoc
- Starter keeps the 5-template limit of the free plan; unlimited templates, pricing tables and analytics start at Business, $49 per user / month billed annually.
- The Salesforce integration, bulk send, forms and recipient verification are paid add-ons priced through sales.
- SSO, custom roles and webhooks need the Enterprise plan, which is priced through sales.
- The free plan has no third-party integrations and limits each document to 2 recipients.
