Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 3 of the 13 other e-signature and proposal tools we grade

Better Proposals is a proposal tool first: you build proposals, quotes and contracts from templates and a content library, send them as web pages and see when the client opens and reads them. Clients sign inside the document and can pay through Stripe, PayPal or GoCardless. Plans are priced per user and set a monthly send limit, from 10 documents on Starter to unlimited on Enterprise.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Better Proposals, taken from its own pages and our grades.

It's a web app where the work is building proposals, templates and a content library, so there's some setting up before it pays off.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for designed proposals that clients sign and pay

So we've graded it against its own rivals, like PandaDoc and Prospero.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $13 a month for each person

As its pricing page puts it: $13 per user / month, billed annually ($19 billed monthly).

  3. 3

14-day free trial, no credit card required

  4. 4

    It runs on Web

  5. 5

    Templates and content library

Unlimited templates and the content library of reusable sections come with every plan, along with merge tags and a Word importer.

  6. 6

    Interactive pricing tables

Clients can pick options in a pricing table inside the proposal, and totals are recalculated as they choose.

  7. 7

    Open tracking and notifications

See when a client received, opened and read a document, with live notifications on every plan.

  8. 8

The report card

Best for designed proposals that clients sign and pay

Better Proposals is a proposal tool first: good-looking proposals with pricing tables clients can play with, open tracking, and a signature and payment at the end. So we've graded it against its own rivals, like PandaDoc and Prospero. Three people on Premium pay $63 a month billed yearly, capped at 50 documents a month.

ToolGPA report cardBetter ProposalsGraded Oct 17, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyC$63 a month for three on Premium, billed yearly ($21 a head, $29 monthly), with 50 documents a month; Starter is one user and 10 documents. Against its own rivals that's mid-priced: dearer than Prospero at $12 a head, well under PandaDoc Business at $49.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan, but a 14-day free trial with no card needed. That's long enough to build a proposal or two and send one to a real client.
FeaturesCTemplates, a content library, interactive pricing tables, open tracking, signing and payment by Stripe, PayPal or GoCardless, with approvals on Enterprise. It does the proposal job fully, but that's a smaller job than general signing, and follow-up nudges are a $10 add-on.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record. It's a web app where the work is building proposals, templates and a content library, so there's some setting up before it pays off.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only, with Stripe, PayPal, GoCardless, HubSpot, Salesforce and Zapier, and an API from Premium. No phone or desktop app.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Better Proposals is for

  • Great if you're an agency or freelancer sending designed proposals
  • Handy when you want the client's deposit paid the moment they sign
  • Good for sales teams that need a manager's OK before a proposal goes out

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you just need contracts signed, as it's built for proposals
  • Tight if you send more than 50 documents a month, as only Enterprise lifts the limit
  • Pricey if you want automatic follow-ups, as Nudge is $10 a user on top

Good to know

Good for

  • Agencies and freelancers who send designed proposals and want to know when they are read
  • Service businesses that take a deposit as the client signs

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

You could make the core of Better Proposals for yourself: documents, templates and forms.

What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. It costs $156 a year.

What you could make

  • Documents, templates and forms: an app builder makes these well.
  • It runs in a browser, which is where something home-made would run too.

What you could not

  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Stripe, PayPal and GoCardless among them, and has an API.

What this rests on. Better Proposals’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
